It's been five years since Paranoia has been released! I just can't believe it, the time flies so fast! I want to thank everyone for all your support through all these years!
You might be wondering, is there a sequel, or another project in development? Unfortunately we are not planning any sequel for Paranoia, but right now we are working on a small multiplayer project. You can find some info about it right here.
Today I have something special for those, who asked me to show some old footage from the early development stage. I quickly put together some ancient videos. Have fun! :)
Still one of the best mods for HL1.
Thanks, now I feel old. I still remember playing this for the first time.
Five years already? Damn, it doesn't feel like it!
Well big congrats to you Mikhail and to the rest of the team, still one of the best mods for Half-Life!
Great video btw, I remember some of that footage from the videos you sent me a few years ago!
Happy anniversary still one of my best and favorite mod i ever played for HL1
Damn, time sure flies..
Happy anniversary guys, this mod was definitely really creepy and awesome
The Warcraft III version launched it's open beta this year too!
WTF are you talking about?
There is a map for Warcraft 3 based off of Paranoia(same story same with the same characters). With the same Foes and other gamemodes.
Awesome, love this stuff. Congrats BuZZeR and the rest of the team!
Thanks ruMpel! ;)
Not much to say here. Paranoia is a great mod :)
You added "gnome" zombies .... doesnt feel like the paranoia we knew. The one with Cool zombie like mutants.I personally am disappointed.
But what about Paranoia : Savior ?
Ask this guy:
Moddb.com
He is working on it.
The sequel in my honest opinion, is a rather great indie game, especially the first Paranoia once it became an indie game also as it was a former mod for Half-Life. Once it comes to the 10th anniversary, it would've been awesome if we had tried out the prototype versions of Paranoia and Paranoia II altogether. Game prototypes are rather interesting, especially in my opinion at least. There's a reason why leaking game prototypes are OK to leak to the public, atleast if you request for the game company's permission, even if they don't need the prototype versions anymore. You can also ask them for permission IF the game is an extremely long duration away from its year of release, for example, Half-Life being released back in 1998, while the prototype version of Half-Life, is leaked in 2013.
First off, there is a popular wiki opened up inside the Internet right now called, The Cutting Room Floor. (https://tcrf.net/The_Cutting_Room_Floor) As the description says, "The Cutting Room Floor is a site dedicated to unearthing and researching unused and cut content from video games. From debug menus, to unused music, graphics, enemies, or levels, many games have content never meant to be seen by anybody but the developers — or even meant for everybody, but cut due to time/budget constraints.
Feel free to browse our collection of games and start reading. Up for research? Try looking at some stubs and see if you can help us out. Just have some faint memory of some unused menu/level you saw years ago but can't remember how to access it? Feel free to start a page with what you saw and we'll take a look."
Not only you can post articles about cut content and game prototypes only in ONE wiki by the name, The Cutting Room Floor, but also various game wikis in general, for example, the Serious Sam Wiki.
Make sense?
Because the prototypes would may be abstract maps, textures and much more as you've previously quoted in our interview, we would still be interested in them whenever it comes to a game's evolution to perfection. The 2003 prototype version of the MOLE story arc is much more interested, especially the Mutants before both the Zombies and Mutant Zombies had came to fruition. Because the prototype footage video is short, I was curious on what else is in display, which I don't have to.
Still, releasing the said Paranoia prototypes is typically an option to be honest.
Moreover, I really enjoyed the Paranoia series as a whole and I really hope what happens to Major in Paranoia II: Savior after the events of the said story arc that took place during Paranoia and its sequel. There's plenty of questions that still remain to be answered despite being intrigued on what happened in the underground laboratories and with the City being in a state of quarantine. It honestly feels like I'm a person trying to climb myself towards the light to encounter some more knowledge because of the duo games' plot twists and questionable events at certain exact moments. These games deserve to be my all time favourite indie games, they honestly deserve to be in Steam Greenlight, you deserve some good recognition from Valve and everybody else, same with Elber. Again, thanks.
Even though, if the prototypes may not be playable for said reasons, they can be compiled and allow them to function better, if correctly so.
Mod is still relevant to this day, congratz!
Oh man, 2 years ago I was playing for the first time this AMAZING mod.
Now, about the prototype version, I don't know WHY I always get so in love with earlier versions (pre-alpha, alpha, beta) of any game. I mean, those KROT labs were really creepy, I like them more than the final ones, and some cutscenes with those soldiers look really impressive. I just LOVE many of the things I've seen on this video. But, oh well, I think sometimes devs must cut and redo stuff when they feel it isn't enough.
Happy birthday PARANOIA!
Lots of stuff got cut because I used bunch of textures and models from other games for prototyping. Later on almost everything was replaced with custom content.
Thanks everyone! ;)
The video is priceless!
Excelent Story, Excelent Graphics, Great Atmosphere. Conclusion: The best MOD for half Life i've ever player. I want the second part!
One of the best mods ever!
Thank you, guys!
This should be released to the public to play it!
Much better crosshair! Labs look awesome. Sounds are great. Level design is great too. Foooooog!!!
