i'd imagine it to be compatible with both, just the folders where you dump the file(s)/folder to be different. with stand alone half-life you put it in C:(or sometimes D: depending on what drive it's installed in)\SIERRA\half-life
with steam you put it in C:(or D:)\program files\ steam\steamapps\(steam username)\half-life

No, it's not needed. Works perfectly fine with the WON version. Provided your up to date.

you can click on the !lauch button (or something) in the map. I don't use steam or whatever and i can play it as well so...

no, you jsut need a copy of Half life for WON or Steam

u think Steam launched Half-Life ?...Half-Life is older than Steam and it means ALL MODS WORK WITHOUT STEAM ALSO !!!....some people are so uninformed...

You have to copy the files into to make the mod work: I:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\<username>\half-life, then you restart Steam and it should appear.

This is one of the best half-life mods ever its scary, creepy and action packed i recomend it to anybody who doesnt wet their pants at the slightest scare

Your version of Half-Life is outdated. You need version 1.1.1.0 or higher to play Paranoia without issues. Try to update your Half-Life.

Nope... That error comes time to time even with the latest steam HL1-version.

CS is (why u hope not? thats good game) is online only, this is SP only.

you don't need to do that just go where it saved the paranoia folder and replace/place the paranoia files with the old ones, that should be it :)
