Operation : Takedown is a Single-Player modification for the upcoming and eagerly anticipated game, Doom III.

Our main focus is on realism and the kind of fast-paced and involving gameplay expected from a first class FPS. Our mod will offer not only all the important aspects of a regular game, such as an involving and interesting storyline, adrenaline-pumping action and stealthy covert missions requiring quick thinking and awareness, but also a firm grasp on realism.

As a counter-terrorist FPS, OpTD will test the gamer's skills in a way unique to the genre. The mod will be entirely in first person and without advantages such as the HUD, leaving the gamer to rely entirely on their own senses and intuition. We believe this will add to the experience as a whole and put more of an emphasis on the skills needed in real life counter-terrorism operations. The game also features an extensive arsenal and enough covert and fast paced missions to keep the most demanding of FPS fans happy.

You play the role of both CT special operative James Francis and double agent 'Eos' throughout the game. Whilst the ideal gameplay mode for each character is recommended, the level design will allow for multiple ways of completing a particular mission. As well as choice of tactics, the game will be comprised of many non-linear elements - much depends on how far into the missions you're willing to dig. This could easily lead to new areas or mission objectives and sometimes even the direction of the game. Different levels require different tactics and styles of gameplay and should prove a challenge to any level of gamer.

The mod will feature:

- a large CT arsenal to choose from
- unique missions comprising of multiple maps and objectives
- intense Single-Player gameplay driven by a twisting and immersive storyline
- ultra-realism; no HUD to rely on, various damage points, realistic stamina and no superman physics

OpTD is a revival of an old mod originally designed for Half-Life, and a few team members are still loyal to the project, which began in early 1999. Utilising the amazingly powerful Doom III engine, OpTD will be able to render incredibly detailed maps and models and provide hours of realistic counter-terrorist and pure stealth action.

After a good few months of designing and testing, I am very proud to present to you... version 3.0 of the Operation : Takedown website!

The most noticeable feature of the new site is the navigation bar under the banner. From the 5 main categories you can access every section of the site. The Progress page has finally been completed and will be updated regularly, the Downloads section has had a minor facelift for easier navigation, the FAQ has been rewritten and will have regular revisions, interviews and articles can now be found in the Articles section, the Weapon Models section now contains information for each weapon, and any enquiries can be mailed to the appropriate person via the Contact menu.

I hope you enjoy the new design that's been months in the making. I'll be making a few minor tweaks over the coming weeks, with the inclusion of features such as categorised archives and a search engine at the top of the list. Stay tuned for story/mission/map development news which is just around the corner!

I used to be on this team, it pretty much died because of a lack of good leadership and talk of us switching to the Source engine because of superior outdoor environments, physics and AI. After all the debate about that, the leader pretty much abandoned the team, and we all disbanded and went our own ways

I say keep the high poly models and force everyone to upgrade. It should clean out the laggers :-) which is only a dream in my world.

i really hope those are highpoly models that will be drastically reduced, i realize that these are the next gen games but they arent superhero engines. You should try to kepp rifle models below 3000 polies, by that i mean with your current models this mod will be an engine killer. like to clip on the steyr, much of that can be textured effectively. Also the barrels are way to round and everything is smoothed way to much. The models look good but remember they do need to get ingame succesfully.
keep up the good work though

Looking Good.

Im no fan of these sorts of "tactical - realism " mods...And it isn't because of counterstrike, so much that I think it's a fairly shallow thematic niche, which tends to find alot more attention than it deserves from modders.

That having been said, you guys look like you're on the ball. Those weapon renders are very well done, and i'd love to see where you could take this on the Doom 3 technlology as a single player game.

I'll be watching this one ;)

aw come on a single player mod takes too long and attracts less people when its for a pc game (unlike a console game). people get pc games for the online experience, and therefore I say multiplayer is the way to go. Even if its ct's vs. t's, I wouldnt call it a cs rip off, because you cant judge a book by its cover. like forest gump said, "life is like a box of chocolates, you'll never know what you'll get."
