Configurator Settings Will Not Save | Locked | |

Any changes I make to the Graphics tab of the configurator [v2.10] for OGS Evolution ver. 0693 are not saved, and are reset the next time I open the configurator. The game itself will run regardless, but I do not believe the changes make a difference in-game either. My install directory is not in program files, and running the configurator as administrator has no effect. Edited by: soldiercfm |

In Windows 8.x and Windows 10 do not install the game on disk C: at all. |

I am proudly still using Windows 7, and I install all games to my D drive. |
||

That's strange in such a case. I will ask to help the devs. |

I would appreciate any assistance I could obtain in the pursuit of resolving the issue. Thank you very much. |

As devs said, 1) make sure that your installation directory is not read-only (via properties); 2) are you sure that you have full admin rights, they can be limited by someone; 3) maybe you are using some paranoidal anti-virus program or firewall which prohibits the configyrator the access for write operations. If nothing helps, try this experiment: do not run the configurator, open gamedata\shaders\r2\configurator_defines.h with standard Notepad, change one symbol and try to save this file. If this operation will fail you have problems in your system. Edited by: SimplyYuri |

I've checked each of these potential issues, and verified that 1) The directory is not read-only; 2) my account has full administrative privileges; 3) the problem is not helped by disabling my anti-virus/firewall. Update: After recently trying to run the game again, however, I receive the following CTD error: "Your video card doesn't meet game requirements Pixel Shaders v1.1 or higher required" I've not had problems running the game before, and my computer is more than capable of running any configuration of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I have been able to get my hands on. Update 2: I've reinstalled OGSE, and managed to get everything working properly again with the exception of my original problem. I've determined that values of yes/no can be saved as well as numbers of 0-100, but anything in between 0 and 100 will not be visibly saved. Edited by: soldiercfm |

Maybe you use non-english letters in your directory path? In this case the configurator can not recognize the paths to the files. It can handle english and russian letters only. Edited by: SimplyYuri |
||

Hmm, the path name is nothing out of the ordinary. I think if the issue was about reading/writing, it wouldn't allow any changes of any sort to be saved. After further testing, I have determined that the game WILL launch with whatever values I put into the configurator, but the values will not be saved for the next time I run the configurator. |

What language and regional settings are you using? The problem may be associated with them. To fix this problem, the devs need to know those parameters/ |
||

The language is english, and the region is North America. |

Did you run Configurator as admin? Nobody asked cause it mentioned everywhere to do so. But did you? |

Running some programs as admin is sometimes irrevelant to where said program is installed. Some programs just need to be run as admin for reasons unknown. |

Thank you, but none of the strategies presented thus far have proven effectual. |

Maybe you use silly Windows 10? Do not install nothing on disk C: in this OS. You have no rights to do anything there. |

I'm having the same issue (Cannot change graphics to anything except on/off or 100/0), I thought perhaps I was alone in this problem. I'm running Windows 10, but have installed OGSE to 'D:\STALKER OGSE'. I see you mention it may be a read only error, however, when right clicking the OGSE folder and attempting to remove the read only setting, it simply reverts to read only when you reenter properties, but all the files seem to not be read only. soldiercfm wrote: I appreciate all of your assistance, but most of the information you ask for has already been established in previous posts. I am aware of the great many problems that have been introduced by Windows 10, and would advise everyone to avoid it like the plague for as long as possible, or until Microsoft has decided to reconsider their prioritization of customer concerns and demands. @RedPartisan, I'm sorry to hear that you also have been experiencing this problem. I believe Windows 7 and beyond have an altered file management system that causes folders to always be flagged as read only, despite the individual files contained within being flagged differently. The correct reading is the one explained in the properties section of whatever file you are examining. I do not have reason to believe that it is a read permission issue, mainly due to the fact that certain settings can still be saved, even if only in the values of 0 or 100. |

Acutally if read only parameter for a folder is shown as square it means its disabled. If its checked then its enabled. This is relevant to win 10/8/7. Edited by: lol3r_86 |

Is there a way to edit the files manually? I see the settings for the graphics section in the "configurator_defines.h" file, but there is one in the OGSE directory, and one inside the shaders/r2. Which one will work in game? Update: Ok, so after some investigation, I noticed that the settings were being saved in 'configurator_defines.h', despite the configurator itself listing the edits as unchanged (or as 0/100, on/off). I think it works in game and that things are actually being saved, I'll have to do a bit more testing to see if settings are truly taking effect though. Edited by: Kriegsman |

Configurator is working with a few files: gamedata\config\tuning\ogse_config.ltx, gamedata\config\creatures\actor.ltx, gamedata\shaders\r2\configurator_defines.h and _appdata_\user.ltx. Also it uses some localization files, but it doesn't matter in this case. Edited by: SimplyYuri |
