Normandy '44: European Theater combines a higher level of realism with a more elaborate doctrine system, which incorporates almost 50 different military units that took part in the period of Jun-Sept 1944. This spectrum ranges from divisions of free Polish and French units serving under the main allied armies to volunteers from the Eastern Front that served in the German Wehrmacht. This is only a small portion of the doctrine variety however, as we feature numerous well known units of all factions as well. The mod also features numerous new abilities and custom made units each with a completely revamped size and structure. Between custom made units and structures with historically correct skins, Normandy '44 offers over 150 NEW UNITS, making for an almost endless variety of different scenarios and unit actions. Combined these factors provide for an experience unlike any other mod for CoH!

Happy much belated New Year! Reaffirming the status of this and the CoH2 successor modification.

Hello everyone.

Firstly, my most sincere apologies for not posting more often. I have recently had to move from my current home to an apartment, and the family issues surrounding this have taken it's toll.

I suppose some may rightly ask "Why is he posting this in the CoH1 variant?"

Well, that is because after much waiting, discussion and deliberation I think I will be moving back to Company of Heroes 1. The sequel while enjoyable does not currently offer the kind of tools I require to give what I need to everyone, and it does not show any sign of improving on this matter anytime soon.

It will take some time and much effort for me to revamp the CoH1 modification to a standard that I find acceptable. I have learned much from my experiences in testing and balancing the basics of the CoH2 variant of the modification, and I hope to carry that knowledge over to this variant of the mod.

Many people have stated and will continue to state that in comparison to "Sweeten's" version of Normandy 44 mine was...lacking. I must say that regardless they are quite correct. I did not have the time nor the experience that Sweeten did when I first took over this modification and not only did I not share all of his sentiments on where this modification should go and how it should play, but I did not (and still do not) understand his organization of the various files, folders of the modification. This made it very difficult to change things effectively and slowed progress down.

However; I would like to say that I will be looking into fully revamping the CoH1 variant of this modification. I do not currently have a modeler or a dedicated skinner (The latter I need very, very badly to replace performance killing skins), so if there are people looking to fill that position please contact me.

Firstly I will work on unifying the systems I perfected in the CoH2 variant of the modification and applying them to this version. Infantry aren't going to die from one burst of a .50 Caliber on a tank anymore, and in general gameplay will be much more manageable for the player. I will attempt to unify and fix as many bugs as possible, but please understand how big the modification is and how individualized the file are.

Most do not know that every individual soldier and vehicle have their own file (plus a squad file). So a squad of 12 men will most likely have at least 6-7 different files, and at most 13. I will look into attempting to condense this as best as possible but it will take much time and effort to do so.

Thanks for reading. I will post another update somewhere around the end of the month, or most likely after April 7th which is when my studies for the semester end.

Good luck man and don't bite off more than you can chew with revamping the COH1 and working on the COH2 mod simultaneously.

Hop you find a modeler and skinner too man!

You are right. It is nigh impossible to make something remotely close to this in the sequel. I hope you turn this mod into the perfection it deserves to be.
