Normandy '44: European Theater combines a higher level of realism with a more elaborate doctrine system, which incorporates almost 50 different military units that took part in the period of Jun-Sept 1944. This spectrum ranges from divisions of free Polish and French units serving under the main allied armies to volunteers from the Eastern Front that served in the German Wehrmacht. This is only a small portion of the doctrine variety however, as we feature numerous well known units of all factions as well. The mod also features numerous new abilities and custom made units each with a completely revamped size and structure. Between custom made units and structures with historically correct skins, Normandy '44 offers over 150 NEW UNITS, making for an almost endless variety of different scenarios and unit actions. Combined these factors provide for an experience unlike any other mod for CoH!
There were four main model modifications (Ausführung A through Ausf. D), of the Sd.kfz. 251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251), which formed the basis for at least 22 variants.The initial idea was for a vehicle that could be used to transport a single squad of panzergrenadiers to the battlefield protected from enemy small arms fire, and with some protection from artillery fire. In addition, the standard mounting of at least one MG 34 or MG 42 machine gun allowed the vehicle to provide support by fire for the infantry squad once they had disembarked in battle. The Sd.kfz.251/7 was the assault variant specifically for combat engineers with fittings to carry assault bridge ramps on the sides. It is armed with front and rear mounted MG42s and can carry a squad of 12. This model also gives nearby Pionier troops a boost to their combat performance.
Will the assault bridges be useable?
The assaults bridge is just for aesthetics, as of now it's not doable coding and animation wise.
Coding wise, couln't it be made like say, much faster bridge repair that costs allot of munition, but is much faster?
It gives Pionier units an overall performance boost, including repairs.
I read that, and I suppose its fair, but I was talking about a special ability like: Deploy Assault Bridge, whitch deploys a bridge in, say 10 - 20 seconds, repairing the bridge. But as it already boosts repair speed, it would be pretty useless.
I've seen mods incorporate having that model repair vehicles and the like, and to be honest it looks rather silly as there are zero animations for it whatsoever.
Now, if we could somehow code in some Pioneers getting out of the back of the vehicle to do a faster repair of something, and then going back into the vehicle then it would make SOME sense. Currently however, that is definately at the bottom of our priority list.
Just cus there's no animation? That's kinda weak...
