Nightmare House 2 is a free, horror-themed first-person-shooter game, and the direct successor of the first classic horror map pack "Nightmare House". Nightmare House 2 is based on the Source Engine by Valve, also considered a modification (mod) made for Half Life: Episode 2.
The story resumes with the player lost and confused in a hospital known as "Never Lose Hope". With no understanding of how you came to be there, there's only a vague memory of the mysterious, haunting girl from Nightmare House. Soon it will be difficult to determine between a dream and reality. How long will it take you to realize that escape is not an option?
Installation:

IMPORTANT: This modification requires a registered Steam client with Half Life 2: Episode Two installed.
For the .RAR installation:
Extract the folder "NH2" with all its contents to your SourceMods folder e.g C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\
If you do not know how to extract a .rar archive you can open them with programs such as WinRar or 7-Zip, these can be freely downloaded off the internet. WinZip will NOT work.
If \SourceMods\ folder does not exist under your \Steam\steamapps\ folder, create it.
You should now have Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\NH2\ as a folder with the file "GameInfo.txt" inside it.
Restart Steam and Nightmare House 2 should appear in your game list.
For the .EXE installation:
Run the installer and follow the onscreen instructions.
Restart Steam and Nightmare House 2 should appear in your game list.

I played through this and i've thoroughly shat my pants. All of the horror parts were pants-shittingly scary, the action parts felt badass and i was pleased with the ending. This is now one of my favorites.
Im....Scared...I didnt even get through the Prolouge or Nightmare House 1....I got to her hanging and was like.....Oh hell no....The Toilet zombie is enough....Im out....PM me how it ends
You can look up walkthroughs on youtube. That's what I did before I had HL2-Ep2.

try the lost files they got lightning problems but got more horror at the same time!!!!
i did download this (.exe) version of this mod, but i couldn't run it. it came in as NightmareHouse2_1.0_Setup.1[1]
and when i double click on it my windows 7 says me he doesn'ty recognise it and doesn't know what to do with it.
i will try the .rar version of the mod now.
It doesnt let me download too on windows xp SP3 and firefox, it just stops on 13% and scans for viruses forever and then comes error, ill try rar version

You can play it on gmod or the original half-life as the engine was updated, there will just be not many textures and I imagine that everything would look like ****.

need to have half-life 2 ep 2 installed.
you need halflife 2 episode 2
Found an odd bug.
When I alt-tabbed out of the game, I got a vertex error.
Then, whenever I alt-tabbed out of the game, it would crash. I know the solution is to simply never alt-tab out of it, but I'd like to see this fixed, if possible. Not exactly game-breaking, but very annoying.
This mod does not like alt-tabbing....

Completed it, AWESOME!, very scary and cool how u did the bits with mannequins and the walls and the shadow ghost things and basicly everything is done so well, hope u guys make a 3rd one :D

Hi. Sorry, I'm here to say I'm not very happy with a few elements in-game... Indeed, you were inspired by "F.E.A.R.", which is a good point. BUT there's a difference between "being inspired by" and "copying". Why am I saying this? The bloody footprints in the prologue, just as in F.E.A.R., the big visions (changed colours of the environnement etc) is also the same style. Anyway, that are just little things. But then, in level one, when the player activates the lift, you remade exactly the same scene as in F.E.A.R. (the lights go out, the colours become more grey like in the visions, Alma quits the lift and comes in front of the player, behind the window, watching him; you get out of the room, the "normal" colours reappear and Alma isn't there anymore). I'm sorry, but how dare you use this kind of material? Recreating an existing scene, and prodly presenting it as your own work? You just can't do things like this, I loved F.E.A.R. more then any other game, and you're showing no respect at all to their developpers.

The thing is, it's a bit easy to recreate an existing scene and to get the congrats from everyone "for THEIR work & ideas"...
the flashlight does not work ... it shuts down when ever it is used !
I also noted some chashs on some levels which need to be fix !
