The "New Horizons" mod for the 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean game by Akella is a continuation of the famous Build mod series. Developed as Pirates of the Caribbean Build 14, "New Horizons" continues where Build 13 left off, adding more new content than ever before.

CRUCIAL INSTALLATION TIPS:
1. You MUST install this on top of the unmodified stock game
Pirates of the Caribbean, released in 2003 by Akella.
The mod is NOT a standalone game!
2. You MUST install Build 14 Beta 2.1 Full first!!!
3. Allow the installer to run RunMe.bat upon completion
- DON'T install the game to Program Files,
otherwise Windows prevents it from installing correctly
Install to, for example, C:\Games\Pirates of the Caribbean
- Check out the controls in
Documentation\Default Key Assignments.txt
- Set the game's settings to your liking in the
Options>Advanced Options menu
- !!!SAVE OFTEN!!!
KNOWN GAME ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS:

If necessary, use "Compatability Administrator (32-bit)"

Wow, one of the first to download this. The work you have done on potc is amazing. It feels like a much more polished game with a purpose. Ships and characters look great.
Once again- superb work. Loving every bit of it, best game of its type by far until HOOCOTS hopefully!!! The new opensea mod is great as well, adds a new level of realism to the time it would take to sail. Brilliant work as usual well done :D

installer integrity check has failed. common causes include incomplete download and damage media. contact the installer author to obtain a new copy... only 80% of the setup installer and i downloaded 3 times and the download its complete please heeeeeeeeeelp!!!!

Anyway, which mirror did you download the mod from? If it was the ModDB mirror, there is a known issue that affects certain regions, which may be why your download hasn't worked properly. Please try the alternative download link from my post above.

I think the game was released in german. but the mod isn't i guess. I believe however you have a german community for the game but it's not the same community as PiratesAhoy!

No, the mod is only in English, because translating it would be a very big job.

How can you disable or enable the opensea mod if it was installed in the initial download? I want to disable it whilst i do the storyline and then re-enable it when finished to make a more realistic free roam.

is the intel fix included in this 2.3 update or should I add it on top of this update?
The new (recommended) Intel fix is included as an optional add-on in the Beta 2.3 installer.

We've discussed it before, and decided that adding any kind of multiplayer support to this game would be far too difficult. However, our new project, Hearts of Oak, will support multiplayer: Moddb.com .
I'm not sure what you mean by a "free play button"? There is no specific functionality to that effect in the game. The best free play option is to go with the Master and Commander storyline, which has no quest yet, so you can do as you please.
Hey Lads, does anyone else have the same problem? Whenever i get caught by the "law" when i smuglle, i cant return to the sea, it crashes back to windows... Is this a common error or is it only me?

Some players have reported that problem. Hopefully there will be a fix in the next patch as it is related to the Coast Guard ships.
Thank you so much for your work. I have just been reading books about pirates lately, and then I found a community like this -- it's amazing. I can't wait to play the game for the first time in the coming weeks, and I am going straight to the modded version. Yo Ho Ho, my Salty Seadogs.
Do you recommend I play Build 13 or Build 14? I know it is a hard game.
If you're going straight to the modded version, I'd recommend Build 14 for the best experience. It has a huge amount of new features that make the game truly awesome.

I just finished Assassin's Creed 3 and the sea battle in there reminded me of this game so with my nostalgia meter at its limits im going back to playing it.(Still wish the graphics could be enhanced more...but old engine old graphics...)
