Description

A Mark 8 Skirmisher is is the ship of choice when engaging in many activities such as scouting, patrol, low intensity battles and Anti fighter roles. In all these tasks no other ship compares to the Mark 8 thanks to a number of factors such as its speed, maneuverability excellent armor and shielding. Combine this with a prototype burst fire main guns and other frigates don't compare. However in recent times massive fleet battles have begun to occur like never before and the skirmisher is showing its flaws. In small numbers wings of skirmishers can weave in and out enemy positions using hit and run tactics. But this means that cruisers have little frigate support and run the risk of simply being picked apart by the enemy. The T.E.F has responded to this problem with the new Mark 8 Heavy refit. This ship sacrifices forward acceleration for additional armor and more weapons including an additional standard fire 250mm rail gun. Additional maneuvering thrusters have been placed on the ships hull to maintain its maneuverability despite its reduction in max speed and acceleration. This makes it less effective at tasks generally suited for a regular Mark 8.
