This is a total conversion of Sins of a Solar Empire. five new playble races will be introduced each with differing play styles and apearances. The focus of this mod will be small and large scale fleet stratagy and empire building.

Lol, How may ships will you put into this mod?
well theres a couple of ship classes that are gonna be cut for several reasons, these include the command cruisers, support caps (replaced by super caps), scout frigates. Also a large number of orbital structures will be removed. These include mines (not asteroid) phase inhibitors, culture producers (for logical reasons since nobody on any side is gonna turn), ill also be trying to get rid of research structures as a mesh since they are stupid to design youll still need them though so i might make them a meshless structure representing them being built on the planet.
So basically youre leaving out the unnecessary stuff.

As long as there are big ships with big guns in it i am happy. xD
well there should be plenty of that one of the main reasons y im cutting out things is to make room for bigger ships with bigger guns.
And how about the Nomad Ark, how will it behave in the game? Will it attack randomly or will it wait to attack until you have an relative big fleet to defend yourself?
randomly attack and will use siege ship AI so itll make a beeline for its target planet and will do little to no damage to whatever is in its way. The main threats are its supporting fleet which consist of a small number of deadly ships and its secondary weapons which can pack a punch. The nomads will behave like pirate except that the UI displaying time till arrival is disabled (so its a surprise :P) also hopefully i can make it so that rather then placing bounties the amount each player has as a "bounty" will be randomly decided before the raid. Also the size of the fleets will increase as the game progresses.

And will you also change/replace the defense platforms, they are really weak and have practically no effect.
yes they will be replaced with stronger more powerful structures and in the TEF's case miltia forces (yes units the can be deployed anywhere in the star system) also im hoping but i wouldnt count on having planet based weapons systems most likly under the on of the planetary upgrade slots (similar to the increased number of construction drones) this however will be a tier 3 research and will also need to be researched in milatary research before it will work.
on the topic of defenses they will also be very expensive but a single cannon i quite capable of putting a big hole in whatever target its best suited for. So a large railgun installation is able to turn enemy cruisers into swiss cheese and can be countered with strikecraft and frigates.
Let those structures shoot something that does the same damage as an Novalith Warhead.
well yes they do but their miss chance is extremly high so small ships are gonna dodge it almost everytime and larger ships have a chance but not as good as the of the smaller ships.
Just give the weapons a big boom when they impact, there by creating the illusion that you're winning.
lol one of thing im gonna remove is the stupid sheild bubble so that animations is going straight to hell and other things will be implaced to make it seem like every ships is important. Now since your fleet is gonna be small and i really mean that judging by the size of each model memory wise your not even gonna have a capital until mid game so each ship is gonna be durable and all will have the capital ship death seqance animation when they go down. So they drift explosions ripping across its hull as critical system fail or overload then the ship explodes spreading wreakage across the system. Also even frigate will have multiple weapons and a randomly generated name printed on the hull as part of the texture this doesnt do anything just makes the ship feel more personal. Im thinking of making capital ships cost somthing like 3 crew points rather then the normal 1 so u cant build one for a while but bear with me this will change the feel of sins for the better, by not putting a death machine in your hands from the very begining hell if things continue the way they are your fleet before your first supply upgrade may be nothing but a few frigates, so the challenge now is to make every engagment exciting no matter how small even if its just two frigates facing off in an asteroid belt in some distant system it still needs to be exciting.
Could u also make that the ships practical never stop shooting, i mean not like in Sins, where there is an sort of pause between every shot and wich is realy lame. It would just be could to have like an non stop combat.
well making each weapon fire non stop isnt a good idea since itll make things messy and very lagy so weapons do have a cooldown however due to the number of weapons itll normally always have somthing firing. However UCI weapons tend to fire just about nonstop due to the kind of weapons which dont require field recharging and such.
U should also deal with the rate in which you collect resources, It is real slow and irritating to wait until you have enough money to buy you're ships. Maybe you could solve this by putting in planets with really high amount of asteroids but also giving a downside to controlling that planet by letting the enemy attack almost every 5 min. Anyway, cant wait until the mod is released. Keep up the good work. :-)
hmmm the main problem with that is your going to have fewer ships and having the ability to gather massive amounts of resources quickly but still only being able to get a couple of ships is just kinda pointless. So rather then make you want more ships id rather try and have u interested by the ships u have by making them kick ***.
So a big ship could handle a fleet consisting out of smaller vessels?
more like the smaller ships are awesome to watch going about their buisness.
And with going about their business you mean being blown up by the big guns of the big ships?
in a word....yes, but also they will be fun to watch fighting each other and should hopefully be nice to look at once they are done.
No doubt that your ships will look good :-). Will you give an sort of identity to the small ships or only the big ones? Giving them the feeling that they are unique.
all ships get an identity this should placate players for the slower pace near the start...Hopefully
And what will you give them then? A number printed on their hull or an name or something similar?

what about the standard race structures? already done, or still a WIP?
some are done but at this time i'm more focused on getting the ships done since the vanilla structures can stand in until the new structures are done
