This is one of the tracks the player will listen to, when he is inside or around Minas Tirith.
WOW! I love the music you guys are using. I was getting tired of the original Lotr music. This is just close enough to the Lotr music to still feel Middle Earthy. Great Job!
Thanks - we are trying to go one better than Howard shores film music. I hope by the time we get to the alpha release the music will surpass the music for the movies. We should be posting up s coupe of tracks for the Elvish areas soon, I'm really happy with those.
maybe you guys need to have a music option. a choice between soundtracks used in the game, for example, lotr original, lotr enhanced, lotr mod, the ones we liked... just throwing that out there.
thats a good idea
this one sounds a little to imposing for Minas Tirith. It gets that grand feeling around the 1 minute mark but the intro is too evil sounding with those dums and trumpets.
however you guys should release an album that has music to follow everyplace they go to in the books so people can listen to it while they read!
The Gondor Walkaround and Minas Tirith Walkaround soundtracks aren't doing it for me. They sound like something you would find in Runescape - not Lord of the Rings. The timbre is all wrong.
Please listen to the particular types and amount of instruments used, and the ways in which they are played together in "The Lighting of the Beacons" as it pretty much sums up what Gondor should sound like for me. You can find it on YouTube. I couldn't post the link because I'm a new member - signed up just to post this comment, hopefully showing how sincere this is. :)
On a more positive note, your recent work such as 'Town - Walkaround' and 'Forochel - Battle' are brilliant. Really sound like they could come straight from the movies.
This mod has the potential to be one of the best ever. To make sure of that, the soundtrack (so important when it comes to Lord of the Rings) must be two things. Epic and perfect. Please make amends on the Gondorian music. Make it sound like Gondor, not Runescape!
Sounds to 'Evil' with the drums at the beginning, as Fornez already pointed out. You should cut the first minute and keep the rest. :)
The beginning part, if I remember rightly, is derived from an Osgiliath piece done months ago. I don't know exactly what abbott's thoughts are on that part. As for the runescape comment, that is the first time I have heard that complaint. I never played Runescape so I don't know what its like, but for me they work great for Gondor.
This one is decent. The chimes around 00:15 shouldn't be playing the same thing as the trumpets. I'd go with an occasional chime hit for emphasis and to get kind of a regal cathedral bell sound. 00:20 has too many low brass, it sounds ominous. 00:40 onwards is pretty good. Howard Shore's music from the movies involved a lot of crescendos and long tones. He didn't reach the climax of the piece until it had enough time to lead up into it. Just a little constructive criticism. Let me know if you want me to go into greater detail.
It should sound more like the film version, not saying it should be, but that sort of style, the point of Minas Tirith is that its a huge major City that is fallen ruin to its delusional steward.
That start is really out of character, the first thirty seconds should be cut, then it gets into the Minas Tirith feel which i really enjoyed. Keep the melody you have going i like it!
It sounds better when notes are held and sustained rather than throwing loads of jerky ones. Really good but cut the first thirty seconds!
Good points. The first part will likely be dropped as it is taken from a much older song that we will not be directly using. However, the concept of Minas Tirith as portrayed by the movies is off. A lot. Denehtor wasn't insane like the movies portrayed him to be. And he wasn't a complete moron. And Faramir wasn't either, though the movies portray him as such for reasons beyond me. So all and all, the feel of Minas Tirith will follow the books not the movies.
Ps: I will point out he went insane later on when he used the Palantir, but he wasn't straight up crazy the whole time and he wasn't certainly not stupid.
