...in the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.. Men of the Emperor: Burning Horizon hopes to bring the brutal, grim, dark and wonderful universe of Warhammer 40,000 we all love to the Men of War real-time strategy game franchise. With a small but dedicated team, we hope to bring as much of WH40K into the game as we can.
A Sentinel is a bipedal, all-terrain walker used by the Imperial Guard for a number of missions including reconnaissance and search-and-destroy. The Sentinel achieves movement with a pair of articulated legs, which allow for both maneuverability in dense environments and bursts of speed on open terrain. They are fitted with advanced gyro-stabilizers to improve their balance, and their powerplants include noise-reduction technology for stealthy operation.
The first Sentinels produced had open canopies, although modifications to up-armour the vehicle also became commonplace. These Armoured Sentinels have recoil compensators in place of additional gyro-stabilizers which allow them to fire heavier weapons, as well as Auspex arrays to assist in its hunter-killer mission. The standard Sentinel's weapon load has always been a rapid firing weapon, which was originally an Assault cannon. Later models however show a divergence in armament, with the Multi-laser being the most common, while other weapons include a Heavy Flamer, Autocannon, Missile Launcher, Lascannon or Plasma Cannon.
Besides the addition of more armour or different weaponry, Sentinels can be modified in a multitude of ways. The most common include adding Camo Netting, a searchlight, smoke launchers, and/or a Hunter-Killer Missile. Other adaptations can be made depending on where the Sentinel operates, such as servo-driven claw spikes for a better grip when walking over glacial planes.

Awesome model!
thanks!
That thing looks like an animator's nightmare. Awesome.
was thinking the exact same thing while making it.
but i'll go as far commissioning a expert 3D animator if needed to get this thing walking :)
The Emperor demands no less.
Depending on whether the joints are modelled to move freely (ie: separate geometry), it might not be too much of an issue.
Looks very accurate, btw! I kinda prefer an armoured cockpit, though...
they are modeled separately. the legs are made up of 5 pieces each, the "thigh", the horizontal piece on the right leg, the part with the cable, the pistons and then the foot. i have no experience in animating but that sounds like quite a few pieces that need to move simultaneously.
and an armored version will be made :)
Am dying from the amount of beauty and effort that is being put into this modification. Chompster has always had an excellent eye at developing models. I know first hand from the Blue vs Grey mod that we both worked on. Looking forward to the release.
thanks for the kind words :)
I'll be surprised if you manage to get this into the game. :)
If you get the vehicle tutorial online, it'll take half the time. :P After all, the Star Wars mod for AS has working mechs.
Working with the ISP to get the problem sorted, as i'm not the only 1 having the issue, so its highly likely you'll be getting a christmas present, or even an early one. :)
That mod may have mechs, but surely you want to go better hehe
Quiet you, don't spill the secrets of the Machine... D:
Hhmmm that comment just puzzled me, machine?
