The Cold War was a state of political and military tension after World War II between powers in the Western Bloc (the United States, its NATO allies and others such as Japan) and powers in the Eastern Bloc (the Soviet Union and its allies in the Warsaw Pact). Historians have not fully agreed on the dates, but 1946-1991 is common. It was "cold" because there was no large-scale fighting directly between the two sides, although there were major regional wars in Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan that the two sides supported. The Cold War split the temporary wartime alliance against Nazi Germany, leaving the USSR and the US as two superpowers with profound economic and political differences: the former being a single-party Marxist-Leninist state and the latter being a capitalist state with free elections. This mod presents the player with many Communist and Capitalist nations in a scenario where war has broken out between the Warsaw Pact and NATO/UN nations.

Good stuff, but South Korea never really used the thompson. M3 Greasegun were issued. Also, I see the other nations that are more based in 1960s? South Korea seems to be in the Korean war era. By 1960s we had a little more advanced equipment with this. Especially since during the Vietnam war we were able to receive the latest military equipment from the US, including the M16.

Hm... I doubt that. It's just that Thompson was phased out by the US army by the M3 Greasegun. I don't see why North Koreans would have this; they used Soviet weapons. Thompsons were in the Korean war, but only in small numbers used by US personnel, likely those who fought in the Second World War and preferred their old weapons.

ah...i tell you why NK forces used thompson smg. During WWII, US and UK supported USSR as sending some weapons, tanks, and APC. ex)M3,Bren carrier,M4 Sherman, and Matilda tank....) US also sent about 500 Thompson smgs to USSR. But Soviet Union did not use thompson, becuz war was already over. So soviet force stored those weapons and gave these smgs with t34 again in 1950

As a matter of fact, North Korea replaced their entire weapon inventory with the Soviet weaponry before the war. However, Chinese troops widely used Thompsons during the war, for the Communist Chinese captured many of them from the Nationalist Chinese during the Chinese Civil War, and they also took over the factories that were making the model.

Description

The ROK armies used all American built vehicles and equipment during and after the Korean War. Here, they are similarly dressed and equipped.
