The Cold War was a state of political and military tension after World War II between powers in the Western Bloc (the United States, its NATO allies and others such as Japan) and powers in the Eastern Bloc (the Soviet Union and its allies in the Warsaw Pact). Historians have not fully agreed on the dates, but 1946-1991 is common. It was "cold" because there was no large-scale fighting directly between the two sides, although there were major regional wars in Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan that the two sides supported. The Cold War split the temporary wartime alliance against Nazi Germany, leaving the USSR and the US as two superpowers with profound economic and political differences: the former being a single-party Marxist-Leninist state and the latter being a capitalist state with free elections. This mod presents the player with many Communist and Capitalist nations in a scenario where war has broken out between the Warsaw Pact and NATO/UN nations.
The ROK armies used all American built vehicles and equipment during and after the Korean War. Here, they are similarly dressed and equipped.
Nice!
Gotta love when a military dictatorship is called a 'Republic'.
It's because of the Soviets man.
Not remotely. The United States chose to completely ignore the actual Korean government-in-exile in China, instead putting the South under direct US military control, before installing Syngman Rhee as 'president'. He then spent the next 15 years maintaining control with death squads and brutally crushing rebellions. The single worst incident was during the war when the South Korean military rounded up and executed 100,000 people with leftist political leanings. South Korea remained a military dictatorship until a revolution in the 1980s.
Yeah, I know, they never bothered to mention any of this on MASH.

This is the massacre he was talking about. Although they were not killed for being "slightly left". But that doesn't matter when it comes to genocide. Any kind of it is horrible.

This Syngman Rhee made some (really) questionable decisions. Atleast in the good old trusty wikipedia doesn't say anything about the "death squads" or the "brutally crushing of rebellions". And bear in mind: Wikipedia is not THE most reliable site for information so I miiiight be incorrect.
And also: This is a MOD for enjoyment and entertainment. I don't understand why you would even bother. I'm sure there are pages where you can rant about this without anyone disagreeing with you. So go to those places and you will feel right at home.
I dunno about the others possibly reading this but, I don't give a ****. Even though I might just have contradicted myself after spending some goddamn time finding any truth in what you just typed. Maybe I should not have bothered writing this lol
Sometimes you just find the perfect thing to let off steam on xD.

With all honesty Kim Il Sung strayed off course from Communism with his Juche regime.
Ps. Syngman Rhee was one of the Provisional Government members in China. But other than that you are right; but looking at the fact that Kim's family did what Rhee did for the next 6 decades and continues to do so, I'm happy with living in South Korea right now.
