Master Sword, a first-person MPORPG mod for Half-Life, was first created in 1998 by Dogg and Evaan. For over a decade now, dozens of developers have come and gone, contributing to and expanding the project. When Steam came about, the game looked doomed. But then, in 2005, Kuroneko combined forces with several members of the original team, as well as many new ones, and managed to update it for use with Gabe Newell's new beast, giving the game a full makeover in the process. Since 2005, we've gone from 11 maps, to over 50, from two spells to over twenty, from a dozen weapons to nearly a hundred, and added litteraly thousands of monsters, NPCs, quests, and features.

First of all, sorry for this news post being a few days late. But if you had been paying attention on the forums - thothie posts the news of a new patch in his beta server topic on the first of each month ;)

As for the update itself, this update was mainly focused on enhanced central server security, lag reduction, fixing the XP loss on death system, and the new item limits. Speaking of item limits - these item limits should help with the reliable channel overflow bug that master sword continued has been plauged with recently. It is, however, still technically possible to get these bugs, so we still advise you to only keep items you will need in the near future.

Snarboo, what about it looks bad?

Havn't played it, but simply from hearing the feature I would say it's good. The incorporation of RPG elements is impressive.

I wish I had some constructive criticism. I know it can't look as good as HL2, though. Maybe it's the screenshots? They're rather unimpressive.

It could be the current issues with the player model...

MasterSword has gone through quite a few coders, and as a result of that it tends to have some obscure bugs. Most of these were fixed by the initial MSC dev team (kuroneko, drkill, ewok, etc), but a few still remain - there are large chunks of code with nearly working features, only needing a bit of fixing, and unfortunately one of the chunks that needs fixing is the player model.

A fix for this will come...someday...as for now, just enjoy the RPG aspect of the game ;)

yeah the player model kinda sucks, it's kinda nerving walking around looking like a freaking modern day teenager.

also that frozen effect could use a good chrome texture; leaving it flat looking and ADDITIVE has a very cheap 1998 feel to it.
