Before you guys ask this is the last of its line, Each of the cerberus ships is going to have a unique but connected look that will not at all look like this. The only reason this looks similar because its not a huge jump from cruiser to heavy cruiser. You can see where armor plates are literally connected to the hull, as well as some increased defenses. enjoy.

Trying to avoid redundant ship design, while also adding enough detail that it looks appealing.

I really like this approach.
I like it, I expect that it will be distinguishable enough to tell at first glance. Its a subtle difference over the regular cruiser, but I think subtle is good for this case.

I see the new armor sections quite well, but I don't see where you've added the extra defenses. That being said, could you add maybe a rail on the ship's upper hull, one on each side, that holds 3-4 extra deck guns on top of it? Or maybe adding another mass accelerator on the front kind of like the ME1 frigate? I'm assuming as a heavy cruiser, it would be more heavily armed than just up-armored, but that's just me.
actually it seems those rivets we see on the torpedo launchers and all around the ship(little bumps) are holding down the extra plating of armor.
