March of Rome is a multiplayer modification for 'Mount and Blade: Warband' set in the Imperial Roman Era under Emperor Trajan. The mod itself is set between the years 9AD-117AD, and encompasses the Roman Campaigns under Clodius and Trajan in Briton and Dacia.

No, March of Rome does not have a campaign. If you want a singleplayer experience, the closest would be Bellum Imperii (which is also on ModDB)

It would be strange to play multiplayer WITHOUT people but yes. There's several hundred people who participate in organised weekend events called shield battles.
