Jedi Knight Galaxies is an immersive, competitive and innovative multiplayer shooter, played out in the Star Wars universe. Currently a full conversion mod (soon to go standalone), the project was originally based on and modified from Raven Software’s Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Jedi Knight Galaxies is available completely free of charge. We aim to develop the project into a Large Multiplayer Online game, crossing traditional RPG (role playing game) elements with the fast paced excitement of an FPS (first person shooter). The game is supported by its community and developers, contribution is encouraged and newbies are welcome. The current development team comes from a variety of backgrounds, countries, and age, united by our desire to make a great game. Welcome to Jedi Knight Galaxies, where we break the limits!

Now the truth must be unveiled...

Fellows!

As you have noticed, Jedi Knight Galaxies has been lying dead in the water for a while. This is mostly due to the loss of many of our team members, notably we stand without mappers and nearly without coders - only one, Eezstreet, remaining, and even he is primarily occupied by another project which goes before JKG...

When we noticed things were starting to go downhill due to people realizing we had set our goals way too high, we started re-imagining JKG and most importantly, how to get the project to a release. For starters, less secrecy. Secondly, strip down the idea of what JKG is into phases of different complexity.

We present to you, JKG: Versus - phase 1. Pit off against other players with JKG's current features, with the addition of a few more elements for a less vanilla and more unique sort of gameplay. Phase 2, JKG: CoOp, will bring in more RP elements in a mission-oriented structure. Further on, we hope to get to the third and fourth phases, JKG: RPG and JKG:LMO. But one step at the time, starting off with sparking the interest anew and getting competent developers who want to bring this project forward.

Not only the concept gets renewed - in addition to a new vision, we are merging with the newly formed international multi-gaming community Terran Gaming. The old JKG site (which will remain up a little longer while we prepare to move) will redirect there, where we will reach out to a broader audience, as well as a fresh start. Come and register on the forums, and we'll let you know when we've picked together the loose threads.

See you there, somewhere in time!

Really sad news, IMO. I was wondering if JKG was going to be released this year, as speculated about 2 years ago (back in 2010, when I met this mod) and all the features that where mentioned there. I guess that things like these can happen any time, but, one just doesn't expect them to do, so, well, a sad follower words. Hope you guys can finish this amazing project some day, until that, I will keep waiting, silently for you all.

Yes, but development was fairly steady back then. :p

We want to get phase one out as soon as possible so the community actually has something to do while we work on JKG. This way it will get it itself out as fast as possible.

You should just try another engine that makes it easier for the multiplayer and scripting to flow, like UDK or something.

UDK would not be ideal in any way whatsoever. That would require completely restarting all code and converting all weapons and other models, not to mention all the things that would need to be recreated from just base JKA. The entire team would also need to learn UDK. UDK also doesn't allow us access to the engine.

We're trying to recycle as many things as possible and scrap nothing.

UDK is also marred with loads of garbage teams which just want to make cash or a game in general without putting forth any effort whatsoever. I'd rather not even bother with UDK (plus I don't want to learn a whole new engine)
