New obstacles. Release can be delayed news - HRT 1.4 — HD remastered graphics mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Few days ago my hard disk was broken. The reason is, probably, sudden voltage change (voltage jump) in electric network (this, as rare spontaneous power outage, is common occurrence for us). With gigabytes of valuable data, were lost and HRT 1.4 work files (including textures in game formats and image formats).

I did backups, but last backup on external HDD dated... 31st July 2013. Why so old backup? I ask myself the same question. Because I did not find time to do backup, because I always have a lot of «blockages» that need to be dismantled, now I lost year of work. «Good» news — I should not start work with a clean slate.

All content that you seen on screenshots from July 2013, were lost.

Besides HRT 1.4 files, were lost a lot of other projects, including unfinished and almost finished mods, for example, The Seizure of Airport. Extended edition and updated edition of Winter Vacation 2.0 (which should finished process of updating The Seasons mods). «Airport» was suspended, «frozen», and I hoped that I back to the mod in one day, updated winter mod for SA I wanted to release as soon as possible, because it was nearly finished. Now both these mods are cancelled. I lost also work files of the site.

Our projects cannot always be fulfilled. In real life often happens that one failure comes after another. Many people know that it is necessary to do backups. Me knew too. But somehow I did not find time for this lately (and I always had something unfinished to do). Now, on my sad experience, I want to remind others that you should never feel safe in a question about your data. All, on which you working at day and night, may just get lost. Maybe my message is a little emotional, but it's true.

Development of the mod is not cancelled. Release, most likely, will be delayed to 2015.

I already ordered new HDD and something from voltage change. What about my previous drive? It is not subject to repair, as said service centres. Data recovery costs like, at least, several such terabyte drives, but I am thinking about this. Cost is large, I understand that nothing will get from the mod, but is more offensive to lose all that data forever.

From another side, in my country is war now. Every day (and we must say thank to «wonderful» and «democracy» government) people lost the most expensive — their loved ones. So, my case — is not the worst.
