This mod aims to replace or improve textures in game with new high resolution work while retaining the original feeling and color palette of the game. Characters in game will be given much higher variety of uniforms, equipment and decals which will allow for much deeper experience for those who want to revisit the game or play it for the first time after long time. The textures are redone using original ones as base whenever possible (most are still nice and have at least basic realism) to retain original design, but all textures are upscaled to twice (or more) of original resolution, sharpened, and have decals either redrawn, or replaced with as much reverence to realism as possible. In effect the skins are extra realistic, but also don't look out of place - everything is done as to not ruin the original scene background and color palette that has been developed specially for SPR and MoHAA.
Hello again guys, here's another update. I had a lot of work IRL so not much time left for modding at all.
However, I managed to do few things. I readjusted the scripts for missions, with mission 6 now having full support of randomizer script for enemies, and some adjustments added to mission balance and few aesthetic changes. For example loadout was slightly changed in some missions, in mission 4 you will now no longer lose binoculars after first level, and in mission 5 you now get binoculars for better scouting ability, to make up for lower zoom of Springfield scope.
To relax from mundane scripting work I prepared some models textures that will be useful in next releases. I started first work on american winter models, with winter jackets and gloves, and also for american tankers in mission 5 I have imported tanker helmet that was added in Breakthrough.
There are also new enemies that you can see on picture. Among them:
1. Camouflaged uniforms for Wehrmacht - these will be used by Heer infantry, most often snipers, in missions from 1944 onwards. In AA there are only few levels where they will be seen, rarely, but these models will be more common in Spearhead and Breakthrough missions;
2. Non-camo uniforms for SS - there was already feldgrau model for SS guards, but only in one variant. Now there are variants for all enlisted ranks, with unique variants for veterans, and one more new model for SS NCOs.
3. New enemies in Fort Schmerzen. Since it was supposed to be SS that carried out Schmerzen experiments, player will encounter SS soldiers when fighting for the fort - upper parts of bunker are defended by Heer soldiers, and lower parts with mustard gas facility will also be partially manned by SS. For gas facility itself unique models were made - enemies in gas masks, like you can see on third section of image. There are unique models made for Heer, Waffen SS, and Allgemeine SS - inspired by famous model from MoH:Airborne:)
Hope you like it, and see you soon:)
Images:
1. From right: officer, NCO, soldiers. On left sniper in full camo attire. You can notice added green sleeve rank insignia, new camo headgear (Felmutze hat and camo helmet cover), as well as added late-war ankle boots - as war went on Germans had to save materials, and high leather jackboots were deemed to costly to provide to every soldier. Therefore since mid-war short ankle boots were provided as standard, with puttees to stabilise the leg. These were already made on some models, but not for all factions, so they're now added as variants for better consistency.
The camouflaged Heer variants will be rare in Allied Assault missions, but in Spearhead and Breakthrough they will definitely be more common as these missions have more frontline infantry like Heer Panzergrenadiers as enemies.
2. Waffen SS soldiers in feldgrau uniforms - on left NCO (Oberscharführer, eq. Technical Sergeant), on right Sturmmann (eq. between Private First Class and Corporal). Proper sleeve and collar insignia added. They will be seen rarely in frontline missions (as frontline soldiers usually received camo smocks or jackets), and more often in rear areas.
3. New gasmask models for Fort Schmerzen mission. You will be carrying out surprise attack on mustard gas facility in underground bunker, where part of defending soldiers and facility crew may come prepared with gas masks. Models for Heer, Waffen SS and Allgemeine SS guards were made, with separate variants for different ranks.
Only part of soldiers will have gas masks, you will still have oportunity to kill a few from releasing the gas;)
The level where you open the gas valves you could give the soldiers the gas mask and make them and the scientist not die when the gas leaks.
It is a heavily scripted event and you can find it in the map's respective .scr file.
Yes but I did it other way around - I left them possible to kill with gas leak and made forced non-gasmask models, while the enemies who defend in front are having gas masks. That way you will still be able to kill them using gas, while still having gasmask enemies to kill earlier :)
I was also thinking about adding more enemies in gasmasks after the gas out-explosives planted sequence, coming your way from the elevator (or at least spawning in that area) so that you can fight them in gas-filled facility, but that will require some more script work and so far I want to release 1.0 quickly, then maybe that idea will be possible to be added as patch
All I Got To Say is: That's A CRAZY To Look At!!
Love Your Work, Buddy. Love it So Much..
As Soon As Possible, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Will Become A True Real And Realistic WWII Game From Your MoD!!
Thank you!
Where's the new file of the new version ?!
It's not out yet, it's still WIP - when only I manage to finish the levels I'll release it and add the update here too
Good & IF you can make Grey Wehrmacht tonic & helmet I will be very happy thank you
These are already in vanilla game, in this mod they were updated, they're on some of older screenshots
Really ?! Grey not Green ?! tell we where exactly so I can download it
Ah, you mean the tint of the feldgrau uniforms right? Yeah the default feldgrau in-game looks "greenish" but in fact it has proper "official" feldgrau color set up - RGB 77-93-83.
I was thinking about making different color variants too, as it's true these uniforms came in different shades of feldgrau, from almost complete gray through green-gray to brown-gray. But then I don't want the colors to be tied exclusively to some models, and the mod is already inflated with how much variants for NPCs there are (need separate stuff for rank, role, weapon, sometimes time frame with equipment etc), so in the end I decided to just go with approach to use the universal, "averaged" feldgrau color from vanilla.
I'll think on how to tackle this, maybe I can make you an addon that will have these textures readjusted with gray and brown variants to choose, after release
Yes yes just you make the colors Grey & I know how to put the Images in the game Thank you so much good friend
What is written on the cuff title of an Allgemeine-SS soldier in a gas mask?
I think that one I left blank, since they're of course fictional unit and place, they're just based on SD and SS-WVHA as of carrying out human experiment facility.
The default texture was from MoH:Airborne, where they were with "Thuringer" on cuffs and deathshead on collar tab, based on Totenkopf
"Thuringer" is a regiment (standard) of SS-TV (security of the death camp), cuff title with this inscription were no longer worn with the outbreak of war. I would also like to note that only the "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler" wore the Sieg rune collar tabs on black uniforms.
Yeah which is why I removed it to not make confusion with real-life units there, making these with just generic insignia
By the way, M43 caps were never sewn in Splittertarn camouflage
These items were improvised and field-made, made from spare zeltbahn and other material by field tailors. Hence due to rarity these caps are only given to snipers and NCOs in game
Actually entire splinter set here is supposed to represent field-made attire, as any of these insignias are also non-regulation. But since photos often show these to be worn with insignia, I think it's better for representation in game as both unique variants and ID of faction
Actually I'm not even sure if feldblusen were factory made in splinter camo, as in for Heer, not LW, at least not M40/M42; there's many photos and surviving examples but I couldn't find any confirmation to these being factory made for Heer. And considering how they're so very often worn against regulations (with insignia, badges and medals outside, with both shoulder boards and sleeve insignia sewn on) I think most are just work of field tailors
Nice work
