Heroes of the West is a Western Front mod for the WWII game Red Orchestra 2. The United States Army and the British Commonwealth against Nazi Germany..
I decided the Panzer IV was a little boring as it is. So I went and researched one of the most common camouflage patterns on the Western front and saw that the Ambush pattern was used by many units from 1944-1945. With many slight variations between them such as slight colour differences and the size of all the blotches.
Ambush camouflage usually consists of a Khaki base with bands of alternating dark green and dark brown going across it. With lots of dots all over it. In this case Khaki on the green and brown with brown on the khaki. This same pattern in winter was often coated in whitening agents to better blend in without making the tank completely white. Which in the Ardennes was necessary as a white tank going through a dark forest is rather visible. Where on the eastern front White tanks better fit in.
Double Triple points if you guess what map this is on.
Very nice! One of my favorite paint schemes. Just a wild guess, is it Carentan?
Not Carentan.
Cool, do you also plan to add on amour outskirts?
Might even upgrade it from a G to an H. It's not even a proper Ausf G currently lol. It's got an early F2 turret on a G Chassis. Cos tripwire.
What Sherman would it face then?
Well the H is slower than the G and a Sherman has a gyro stabiliser. Firing on the move. Front of a sherman is a pretty hardy thing as well. Just the sides and rear are cardboard. So a 75mm sherman of some description would be fine. Not to mention infantry AT.
The British are coming, the British are coming!
The question is, how long until they get here?
When the British have a voice.
