Heroes of the West is a Western Front mod for the WWII game Red Orchestra 2. The United States Army and the British Commonwealth against Nazi Germany..
Various rank and divisional insignia of helmets that you may see in game.
Bonus points to whoever can name what they all are.
OK, let's give it a try:
1) - Lieutenant
2) - US Army 1st Infantry Division ("Big Red One")
3) - Captain
4) - US Amry 3rd Infantry Division
5) - Sergeant; 2nd Ranger Battalion
6) - US Army - 28th Infantry Division
7) - US Amry 29th Infantry Division
8) - 101st Airborne Division ("Screaming Eagles")
Did I win? :-)
By the way, excelent work on asll those helmets!
Pretty damn close.
The Vertical stripe at the back meant any officer. So even that captain helmet has it at the back.
The Horizontal Stripe across the back was also used by corporals. Any NCO. Even some T/5s had it. Though it was generally corporal and up.
The 8th helmet you got the division. But only about 1/15th of the division had that insignia. As Airborne helmets typically didn't use divisional insignia but used it at a regimental or battalion level. In this case The helmet shows which Regiment and which battalion.
Everything else is bang on.
101st airborne Division, 506th Parachute infantry regiment, 2nd battalion :)
Easy század? :D
(Easy Company)
Akár ők is :D
The 101st helmet has a 1st Lieutenant bar on the front of it I do believe.
1st Answer is wrong it's not rank if it in backward of Helmet and I saw this before it's squad Commander or something but not Lieutenant. [MAYBE]
As I said it's any commissioned officer. So can be a Lieutenant.
How will these be distributed among the players/ai? Random or based on map?
I would think based on maps, and uniform based on maps. Historical realism!
Yep mappers will be able to pick which division will be on it. Those units on the helmets above are what I thought were the most likely to have maps done with them on it.
Thank you, so excited! Can't wait to see some of those sexy airborne!
I think they need some weathering, they all look like from a parade. I'm not saying they should look like these 70 years old examples we see in the museums, but some scratches and dirt stains would make them look more authentic.
Are those decals? Always use decals.
