So another news update in just a few days, you lucky people you. This one brings you our game trailer and a little bit of news regarding the future of Heavy Steel.

While Heavy Steel began as a University project, the plan has always been to develop a platform and a fan base, that we could then build upon and continue on into the future. This is still our plan, what we will be looking for is some good strong feedback upon the release of the alpha. We will be looking to develop the core infantry/tanks relationship mechanics that we have in place and key to this will be you our fans feeding us back with ideas, changes and criticism.

Hopefully this will be the start of a fun and strong community with possible future dev positions as well as the possibility of opening up some of our level assets to allow for a strong map building community for submission to future builds.

I look forward to continued development of Heavy Steel. Now time for our trailer to commemorate the work thats been produced by a small team of 4 over a 6 month period. Enjoy.

Graphics are bad but I assume that's because of short time window to complete the project for school. I would like to see more info on coop, is it Players vs. AI? Are the maps linear or mp with respawning AI? Just more overall gameplay info would be nice.

The development team ran the release as a closed tech demo alpha. Were currently overhauling the games mechanics taking what worked and improving upon those.

A new system of map creation is being developed that fully utilises the brand new invasion system

Vehicles are being overhauled to UDK standards and more are being incorporated into the game

The character model numbers are being increased and detail overall is being upped.

The Heavy Steel mod team are working hard to develop the game into a full high standard mod that not only will push the boundaries of UT3 but hopefully be a strong entry for make something unreal.

We will also be releasing details of a dedicated website soon so keep posted.

I feel like I have to mention this but for an Unreal 3 mod this game is absolutely terrible to look at, it feels as though it would be far more suited to the unreal 2004 engine considering it does not make full use of what 3 has to offer.

In addition to this, I understand you're a development group of only 4 people but considering what other mods are available within this community, yours absolutely pales in comparison yet still feels the need to toot its horn as much to describe Heavy Steel as an "Epic Game".

In addition to this, you mention in one of your frequent posts that the game was altered to "third person" in order to offer a more tactical point of view during the gameplay yet I fail to understand what is so tactical about it? I don't see myself from a behind the shoulder view when I'm tactically doing my shopping in Sainsburys. I feel that this was more based on a decision to make the game feel less like Unreal without making the time to code a whole new game type and character animations - I'm assuming you took out the Unreal jump though, since who wants to see double jumping jerries.

Either way, I fail to understand how you have the gall to claim your creation as an "Epic Game" (unless of course you were referring to Epic Games... which I'm pretty sure you weren't), because dude, it isn't even a total conversion.

Thanks for the comment fishstick, we appreciate the time you took to let us know what you think of the game so far and we would appreciate it more if you kept in touch and lets us know your opinion on our alpha release of the game.

What's that? Somehow you doubt that a mod made by four guys will be better than a professional game? :p

I think it would be better in 1st person view, but if the models arent highpoly enough its still impressive from a 4-member-group.

We made the game 3rd person for many reasons onf of them was because of the tactical elements within the mod.

Wait till the 17th then you will be able to judge the desision for yourself :)
