Flood should never be an option that can be toggled. Bring on the pain...

The Flood should be made harder, I keep killing all the Flood bases.
Really my last game I killed the flood and then proceeded to beat down my UNSC foes.

Have you tried Flood Mode: On?

Yup, after trying them several times with friends and me/them getting very frustrated at facing this deadly opponent. We turned them off. Their active state we turned off, rather deal with their in-active bases. xD

Flood Inactive is actually considered standard/default way to play SotP. Flood Active is an alternative mode meant for non-competitive play. "Do I want to have my **** pushed in?" is the question you should ask yourself when your mouse hovers over that button.

We'll be updating descriptive text in the mod to reflect this next release.

It is so different, like you said its own game mode. My friends tried to play causally by facing the covenant, but the next thing we knew, the Flood had totally ****** all the factions at the same time. It was fun, but disturbing...

The only time I beat the flood caused my game to crash I used cheats and built 100 or so capital carriers and battle ships and loaded them to max with bomber beat them and my game crashed cuz it could not handle the massive amount of flood getting ****** on the screen. :)

No, it's not that. People are ignorant of some information. We have a good chunk of our fan base come from the Halo community into SoaSE modding just for this mod. They don't know how the game works, they just want to enjoy the mod. We've done a ****** job of communicating some key info, like this, to be quite honest.

We're not a professional studio and we still have a lot to learn.

i set up a map in the map designer that has a star with about 15 planets as flood worlds...

the amount of Infection that comes out of that star... its kinda like trying to kill a real diesease... i have it set up so me and a friend can team up and try to fight the Flood, but so far we have just be swept up by the tide.

Is there gonna be a version of the mod that players get to play the flood?

No. The Flood will never be a faction.

I think up till now alot of people probably came from vanilla sins or some other mod for it and figured "oh Flood? Eh periodic attacks just like pirate raids might make things a little more interesting so I'll leave it on"

When in reality you guys did not leave it to be like pirate raids and instead made it be more...you know...like the Flood. I DO like the concept of it being essentially a free-for-all desperate fight to survive despite despising playing with Flood on (for the aforementioned **** being pushed-in). Think I'll stick to Covie-AI busting.

Gotta love that function to kill the AI for pirates (Flood in this case). I'd hate to get my *** handed to me when I'm spread out too far when dealing with other empires. Hehe.

Last time I played with flood active; they seemed to be a minor nuisance at best. (There are pros to preparing to contain them ahead of time.)

I only ever beat the flood twice. The first time was annoying because after I beat them, one of the enemy factions sent a fleet to kill me off :(

Idk, but for me the flood are now a minor irritant, although thats only the case if I'm using UNSC. Seriously just stack up a ton of anti-fighters, and get heavy fighter screens, and you're pretty safe.

Right, once you learn to fight them they aren't bad, but the AI cannot fight them. Turning them on stunts the AI as well. If you're only play against AI with Flood on you're not playing against good AI.

How late in the game should I be running into the Flood on, say, a medium map? I've been running 2v2 on The Final Stand map for a few hours and haven't seen a single flood-infected ship pop up. Flood are definitely active in the settings.

Ok I take it the maps that do are ones with pirate bases as referenced in the .galaxy file?

lol yep, after in my first game, getting totally demolished before i could get more than a small handful of planets, i turned them to inactive. Lol their bases are also extremely difficult to take, which is pretty cool.

And I absolutely HATE it when my fleets automatically take a path through a known Flood world. Its like they want to die!

Lol you guys really did a great job with them, they are just as deadly(and scary) as they are in Halo!

Description

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that you can disable the Flood? Not everyone enjoys the challenge that comes along with Flood invasions, and we knew that ahead of time. You can disable the Flood in the pre-game options below the faction selection buttons.

"Flood Active" is actually more meant to be "Flood Mode" wherein you no longer play against the usual AI opponents, you play against the Flood and anyone else present is just more cannon fodder for the infection to take and make use of in their assault against you.

If you want to play SotP in a competitive manner or one where your greatest opponent is the faction AI's you've set up before launching the game, you should disable the Flood. You may still encounter Flood controlled planets, but they won't leave the gravity well or cause a serious problem.

["Flood Active" = Flood Mode/Firefight/Horde Mode/Infection Game-Types from Halo Custom Games]
