Ah yes, the CAS-Class Assault Carrier.. the ship that I like when I saw the ship in halo games..

Question: what does this ship serve as?
- As the replacement model for the old assault carrier model? or
- As the new capital ship for the Covenant? or
- As the new capital ship for the split-fraction of the Covenant (that might occur in the far future)?

The new CAS is just a model update to allow us to keep parity with Sins' now increased graphical capabilities. The CAS you have now is the same stat wise, so the only thing different is again, the art asset. Note: this new asset will change nothing on the OAS.

This model looks incredible and I don't mean to be rude, but I am wondering why the development team chose purple? Admittedly, purple may look better, but to my knowledge, the CAS is always depicted as silver in the games. I feel as if though the models (or perhaps just the color palette) for the CAS and OAS should be swapped as a purple OAS could also be a reference to the CSO which shares a similar color as the new CAS. Additionally, this new model looks much more intimidating than the current OAS one (as it really looks like the CSO), and thus would be much more fitting as the titan in my opinion. I am going to enjoy playing with the new model regardless though; thank you for the continued support!

We explain in the description where you see this CAS. It's also purple in Halo: Reach. Ex: Vignette.wikia.nocookie.net

It's a different pattern than the ones you see in Halo 2 or 3.

I was under the impression that Bungie just reused the CSO asset for those ships. Isn't Reach the only time the CAS is shown as anything but white/silver?

There are two very similar models. The CSO was indeed ported from Halo 3, but the ones that jump in right after it's destruction use a different model.

The Esgem pattern is a “watered down” variant of the rarer Kerel pattern Assault Carrier, the Esgem uses different design modules and template structures to serve as a more piecemeal alternative to the other CAS pattern variants. While initially deployed to replace the staple Syfon pattern CAS, the Esgem ended up being used in tandem rather than in exclusivity. Lacking the cityscape and clean hull of the Syfon and Kerel, respectively, the Esgem is rough around the edges, but functions as a far more intimidating, and cheaper, alternative: boasting practically the same firepower and survivability as any other variant. It’s higher emphasis on armor over other CAS patterns also made the Esgem popular in Jiralhanae factions following the Great Schism due to easier maintenance costs.

As part of our efforts to modernize some of our older models, Malcontent1692 took a crack at the Assault Carrier variant seen in Halo: Reach (they jump in after the Long Night of Solace is destroyed).
