The marathon is a good test bed for experimenting with gun batteries.
is this like a carrier? sorry i dont know much on halo only played the games.
It's a cruiser, though i'd equate it more to a battleship in other universes.
I'd have those fore and aft batteries facing... fore and aft :P
A Halo mod is a unique opportunity to kit out ships like they'd do in the real world because you will find it difficult to unbalance the game against what's set up as unbalanced in the canon.
They will do in game.
These gun batteries will probably do little to no damage against shielded Covenant warships. At least not until the shields pop.
Since i can't be bothered making a news post about this;
Following strict canon, the UNSC would be entirely boring in terms of ship diversity, the only thing that'd really vary is the number of PDS, archers and MACs ships have. For this purpose, cruisers will be radically different to how they're portrayed in the books and games at first glance.
Cruisers will be more of a moving fortress than a beefed up missile pod. The difference between them and smaller ships will be that they'll be ridiculously tougher, be equiped with batteries of cannons, carry powerful strike craft and be fairly rare.
I wouldn'tsay fairly rare since you need them to take on the tougher Covenant warships but defianately mid-late game build.
Are you planning on integrating carriers and such as well? I've always wanted to see/draw myself a design for an UNSC carrier.
Also, what about harvesters, have you settled on a design for them, or still soliciting opinions?
Not yet, we're still throwing around ideas.
I've always figured UNSC harvesters would be something really practical, Something like a Pelican cockpit, a drill or one of those continuous miner heads, and a giant container on the back end for the ore. But then we'd need a factory ship to process it, and all that. It'd be a mess, but a consistent one.
That was my idea... :(
