The orthrus was always my favorite. Great for phase 1 damage. I usually spam these to support my capital ships with a decent mix of hammerheads, Tiger sharks, and long swords. Their macs do well against capitals so I don't usually worry about bombers.

I prefer the Thanatos due more in fact to its survivability. I still like the orthrus though.

I enjoy the thanatos as well. My strategy is blow them to bits before you need survivability.

Well in terms of their two roles, the Orthrus is used mainly for massive damage up front and dealing with harder targets while the Thanatos is more like the frigate in that its good at moving and taking out softer targets easier.

While in actuality it should be the other way around considering that the Thanatos was designed later on compared to the orthrus.

I would think the Thanatos would be the one made for survive-ability considering the Covenant threat. Both have two MACs, one can last longer and the small turrets don't do much to Covenant shields.

That is true but what about archer missiles. They're good against the armour.

Nah, the archers were regarded as very weak weapons against Covenants, unless used in huge numbers.
Also, staying alive is a much greater priority in later stages of the war since production was weaker and weaker.

Well Archers would rip Covenant ships to shreds if they were unshielded, they just had no effect on Covenant shields.

Exactly the reason they were used and why I would add large amounts of them to the Thanatos's weapon roster.

Description

Sorry for the delay guys, I've been really busy with school starting and just being out and about. Here's the Orthrus WIP, next to the Paris.

There hasn't been a really huge update yet because I'm still waiting for some art I commissioned as well as some models from Didact (Anchor placeholder, subsystems, etc).
