Well, yeah, and it's not a combat ship.

it isn't i thought prowler's had some form of combat capability i mean they have to at least against fighters

and i was thinkiong it could have mass drivers at the end of it instead of MAC cannons just as a defense.

but oh well

Nope. It relies complete on stealth as defense. The only combat capability it has is indirect from gathering information and possibly mine laying.

i thought that the US proved that relying on stealth while going into combat was a bad idead the one mision where the F-117 nighthawk got shot down

You're thinking of this as a combat ship still. This is far more like a blackbird than a nighthawk, it stays completely out of combat and observes.

Plus it's Corvette sized, so smaller than a Frigate. It's just for scouting and laying traps.

not to burst anyones bubble or anything but in the books the prowlers are armed with 4 or 5 pulse lasers.

oops my bad according to this (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/UNSC_Prowler) page they only have 2 pulse lasers =L

No, no, no they're not. Even if this wasn't a fan fueled belief (If you can find some fanciful reference to it), it's an out-right **** up by what ever source stated it.

ok, ok fair enough lol didn't mean to make anyone mad =(
But it does say in Halo: The Ghosts of onyx, that they do. BUT this book was written by the same person who said covenant space weaponry glowed red instead of blue T_T

I apparently do not have GoO anymore. But no, they won't have pulse lasers.

Ah that's understandable it is just a minelayers after-all besides it wouldn't last two seconds against a covvie ship anyway =P

Had someone read 186-189, the entire prowler section, and theres no mention of it having pulse lasers at all. What exactly does it say?

In addition to this, the halo encyclopedia doesn't mention them and halo wiki cites no source, i also recall a few years ago it said "5" not "2" like it does right now, so i think it's safe to say it's fan speculated that they have them.

It appears you were correct all along V3LO, the ship being equipped with pulse lasers was a fan rumor. =L

Hmm maybe I'll skim through the book again and gave a little look,
Regardless it wouldn't be a very useful edition anyway.

As for YOU, G-257, you've got a correction coming at you.
*cracks knuckles*

The incident where a F-117 got shot down was largely a freak accident. The F-117 was nearing 15 years old at the time, and had been known to the world at large for ten years. The people who shot it down were running Soviet-designed hardware on a longer wavelength than usual (in fact, it had been specifically modified to spot the F-117s), making the fighter momentarily visible when the bomb bay doors opened.

The US hasn't lost another stealth fighter or stealth bomber yet. Stealth is not a dead issue.

i know but but it still got sht down and if it wasnt for the fact they went out alone (because they went in pairs) they wouldnt have got shot down. for the main fact from what i have heard they always had something up there to go with them but far behind you know just as a precaution (i think it was supposed to be an F-16 falcon) then most likely would not have been shot down and did i mention that they are my second favourite Aircraft my favourite being the F-22 raptor. and had it been fighters instead of SAM then they probably would have been even worse off

i think what your thinking about is a stealth cruiser an example of which is the UNSC-Point Of No Return

the Point of no Return was a Prowler, just one the size of a destroyer.

and idk anything about pulse lasers. But, a Prowler did have some form of armament, seeing as the captain said "..most poorly armed vessels in the UNSC fleet." Whether that is referring to the mines or some form of point defense turret? either way. The Prowler doesn't fight. It sits back and watches then runs away when the coast is clear :P

No, i'm not modelling 1 ship an hour. Alot of this stuff was mostly between half done and done before, i'm just finishing them off.

The UNSC prowler. Very angular, with baffled engines and all sorts of stealthy jargon. But in reality not a very stealthy design at all.
