Our representation of Halo's iconic space combat in the Homeworld 2 engine, which puts the player in command of some of the most powerful weapons fielded by the UNSC and Covenant and to provide a balanced and competitive experience.
Just some shots I did after I got Anchor 12 in game.
Things left to do:
*Marker positions for damage effects need to be tweaked
*Ship movement, weapon damage, etc.
*Anchor 12, Refinery, and Collector ship icons (possibly Tug)
*Supply code (if possible)
*Maybe a good texture for the refinery. As of now, it is a placeholder because Velo is unsure whether or not we will use it. Probably the latter.
*Maybe a custom map if I can figure out planets and that sort of stuff
*Normal Maps
But this is all just samples. Hopefully most of this list can be fleshed out before release.
UNSC Rules! :D
That Destroyer returning to Anchor 12 was the sole survivor of the fleet from the other picture. It was redlining and took out one of the Hiigaran Destroyers but I had to slipspace it out for repairs while I rebuilt my fleet.
Oh that poor thing =0
Question: why didn't you waste those destroyers you had several macs not to mention missiles lol?
Trying to find a balance. The Frigates have their Archer salvos set to the damage of a torp frigate, which I think is good. But I'm still tweaking and what not.
Hm the frigates may have been the equivalent of the assault frigate from vanilla HW2, if you had sent that many assault frigates up against two destroyers they would get munched and spat back out as well :P
Indeed but accompanied by a couple of your own destroyers that are sporting MACs I'd be pretty confidant =)
A Destroyer is nothing more than more armor and an extra MAC. It's about on par as two Frigates.
I might end up making the MACs do more damage in the end, though, since I don't want to overpower the Archers...
macs are fairly powerful even frigate mounted ones they should be able to take out or heavily damage Vanilla destroyers in on or two hits=)
If you steamroll the enemy, where's the fun in that?
Don't over power them but make them fire absolutely loads of them
And maybe you could have a covvie separatist faction that is a mix of unsc and covvie
oh and the MAC i think you should have it so it is 3-4 hits maybe 2-3 if i was going cannon maybe about a tenth of a shot
in cannon a mac against a UNSC ship would either destroy or extremely heavily damage the ship against a covvie ship however you all sorts of thing to think about like shield, obviously stronger hulls took 2 or 3 frigate mac rounds to destroy an 800 meter long light cruiser in FoR I think
Again, all damage tables are being balanced. I can make them more canon when the Covenant start to make their appearance, but right now I think it would be silly to build several ships then have them get decimated by who fired first with one-hit KO MAC rounds. Games would become stalemates to see who could fire first.
Fair enough lol :)
I personally think that Macs should be pretty inaccurate but massively overpowered if hit.And by pretty inaccurate I mean like a 40% chance of hit or maybe 60%(Maybe tweakable options. I have never played Homeworld 2 so I dont know how it is)
ment against vanilla
But i remember somewhere it said that a single Archer Missile could take out a UNSC Frigate in one hit
It said a few Archers could disable a UNSC ship, not just one. As for MACs being inaccurate, that's a bit silly since it's a projectile-based weapon with an onboard dumb AI providing a highly accurate firing solution.
or smart AI
I kinda hope you guys leave in the Higaraans and Vaygr, if only so I can waste them with the UNSC and Covenant.
We aren't changing the vanilla races in any way. However we're also ignoring them - Balacing is being aimed at balancing the UNSC vs the UNSC first, and then we'll fit the Covenant around that.
I don't think it would be good to "fire absolutely loads of them"
hey it is what they do in cannon normally they fire together about maqybe 100-200 battle of earth 2000-3000
yeah they did that with in Fall of reach when stanforth was in command at sigma octanus and during the fall at the battle of reach
Your game would splutter and die. You'd also have to micro like a korean to make sure all 300 MACs weren't aimed at the first ship that came into range and have all your ships waste them.
I wouldn't say die because right now both the Frigate and Destroyer fire hella missiles. It's just an issue of balance tables.
make 'em fire propper archer missiles and forget the balancing act with the Homeworld races have them balanced for the unsc and Covvie however make them absolutely PWN the Homeworld Races (i liked it that way)
So you want me to make them unbalanced then.
only so long as we only have frigates, destroyers and longswords
Yah...might be best not to listen to this one... :P
We'd have to do more work to re-over power them. the entire idea is just silly.
it is best to never listen to me and never mind my mind keeps switching at the mo
depends on which music i listen to cant qyite decide
and after creating an account just so i could comment on this thread. .
Its probably a good idea to keep the Vanilla races balanced, they'll be fun to play with and can act as place holders to play against whilst the Covenant are finished off :)
I've been waiting for this Mod (or a playable update) for sooooo long, hope its as good as the screenshots are promising!! :)
Welcome to ModDB!
Balancing 4 races is a big job. We're not making the UNSC ridiculously over powered in comparison, but we're certainly not going to pay too much attention to UNSC vs vanilla. Rather, you should be playing UNSC vs UNSC if you really want a balanced game.
thats awesome
To be fair, though, I've been using the vanilla races to get a sense of balance as of now. And it will continue as such until the Covenant are introduced.
hope you like it here and voice your opinion just once or twice
(i should listen to myself i know that)
GRIN :P :):):) so psyched
who the **** ISN'T ... who the **** isn't.
I see a working version of that refinery ship. Very nice.
