Aliah's new attack scripts. Is that something on the RelicNews Forums? Do you have a link?

Nah, Aliah's a new scripter/coder what ever that just joined the team, she's working on the AI and attack scripting for ships atm.

I'm Aliah. Hai.
Basically making it so the ships 'dogfight but don't' dogfight each other, makes small unit combat cinematic, interesting, and more than just a slug-fest. Frigates will try to tail opponents and stay out of the shot arc of other enemies, but if you have a lone frigate going up against two frigates, expect to not live long, basically.

Looks good. Can't wait to see it modeled. Can't see the back part really well though, so I'm looking forward as to what that's going to be like.

I don't know.
Normally, I like your designs. I really do. But this one has a real... plasticky look. More like a Mattel toy, or something imported from Japan, than something made by Bungie.

Maybe reduced team colors would help (They did in StarCraft II...) or maybe some clutter has to go.

Either way, not one of your best.

Would expect that's the art rather than the design tbh

Three MAC cannons? I thought that ships could not mount more than one due to them being spinally mounted?

Description

The result of listening to hell march on repeat.

Long time fans might recognise this as a bit of a redesign of HHF's original destroyer (the "fin" one). I remember there being a bit of controversy over that being taken out early on.

The gorgon is going to be a soft armour killer. One of the most basic divisions in HHF is going to be "soft targets" and "hard targets", soft targets will be things like frigates or generally weak armoured, cheaper ships, hard targets will be things like destroyers and cruisers. This will hopefully encourage balanced unit composition and contribute to our goal of having effective soft counters work, rather than simply massing up a fleet of ships that do the most damage.

What that entails for the Gorgon is that it only has one MAC, but a number of heavy turrets which allow it to engage a number of smaller ships at once, as well as substantially heavy frontal armour, but weaker rear armour - currently Aliah's new attack scripts for frigates have them flank heavier opponents like the Orthrus, so making sure you don't get flanked is important.

However to counter-act this, the Gorgon has considerably higher control of it's direction (the "wings" engines), unlike other destroyers so it should be able to confront agile craft that attempt to flank it, if you're paying attention.
