Instead of a Crowbar or Monkey Wrench or Knife, he needs to use a steel mop.
A regular wrench of half inch size or bigger would do. So would a hammer or socket wrench. Basically any type of workman tools would do as even tho he is a janitor he would have access to such tools for basic repairs.
I kind of wrote us into a wall with the whole, pipe-wrench and engineering **** even though you are a janitor.
Just pretend he is also trained in basic repairs like Phenixtri said.
