Half-Life 2: Conscript Misconduct (or just Half-Life: Conscript Misconduct) is a singleplayer campaign mod for Half-Life 2: Episode 2. You take the role of Andrew Conscript, a former interim administrator around the same level as Wallace Breen. After learning about the Combine's true nature, however, a mysterious figure tasks you with taking down a section of the Combine forces, in hopes that by doing so, you'll cause a ripple effect in their forces, hopefully turning the tides of the war in favor of the resistance.
This is Dobel Studios's first mod. We're a nonprofit (rather, I'm a nonprofit) and I work to make mods that are fun and easy to play for people. This is my first mod, so don't expect some Entropy: Zero level stuff here.
YOU MUST HAVE ALL THREE HALF-LIFE 2 GAMES AND SOURCE SDK SINGLEPLAYER BASE 2013 ON THE UPCOMING BRANCH IN ORDER FOR THIS MOD TO WORK PROPERLY. Please follow the instructions guide in the most recent release.
In this article, we'll be detailing some of the questions I've gotten from people about Conscript Misconduct. We'll also be sharing some dev footage and screenshots at the end, because I feel like it.
Q: Why is this so bad?
A: This is my first mod. I'm not a professional by any means, but I hope to become one someday.
Q: Why did you use someone else's H.E.V Suit and Annabelle?
A: First off, both of these are old mods. I've attempted to contact the creators of both, but the mods are both a decade-and-then-some old, so unfortunately I couldn't get in contact. Second, I can't model well-- a pair of hands modeled and textured by me wouldn't be a pretty sight to see, and I'm in a poor money situation, so I can't outsource that work. The Mark 4 especially was an essential piece of world building-- this place you're in is OLD. If you had a Mark 5 in there it'd break that.
Q: Where and what are the kaizo maps?
A: We made the kaizo maps after one of our playtesters insisted on doing the entire game with no suit and only (yes, only) the gravity gun. Upon finishing the maps we'll be posting them alongside the post-launch patch. (Seriously, if anyone can actually beat this without cheating, send me a video. I made this garbage and I can't even beat it.)
Q: Why is the mod so short?
A: We wanted to emulate a small part of Half-Life: Uplink with it's length.
Don't worry, we're kidding. It's because I already crunched the hell out of myself making the first three maps and I didn't feel like making 20 more.
Q: When can we expect a post-launch patch?
A: When people start playing it! We need videos, screenshots, whatever-- expose this game for all it's bad design choices and bugs. When all is said and done, we'll gather a list of bugs, go through and fix them, and then post them alongside the kaizo maps-- and that'll be our last update.
Q: You stated in a post that you'd be including the .vmf files. When are we getting those?
A: Alongside the post-launch patch. Don't worry, we'll be posting pre-patch and post-patch files, so you can fix them how you think they should be fixed to your heart's content. You might ask "why aren't you just releasing the pre-launch ones now?" And to that I say, I don't want to.

A lot of builds happened in October. A problem I was having (and still have) is making it feel like a real, legitimate place. I'm used to designing Doom-style boomer shooter levels, so this was definitely a big challenge.
