(buried)

I don't get it.

Why are you guys even still trying?

The COF team did what you guys have done in, what, 8 years? Ever since you invited me to the project and then booted me out because I was in college back then?

Either get your arse in collaboration with them, or this will never see the light of day before anyone here is at least 60 years old.

"The COF team did what you guys have done in, what, 8 years? Ever since you invited me to the project and then booted me out because I was in college back then?"

The COF Team has not released the source code of Cry of Fear, so this is why this feature has to be recoded into ARRANGEMENT.

"Either get your arse in collaboration with them, or this will never see the light of day before anyone here is at least 60 years old."

If I remember correctly, in Am's Source Code (any version), you can see a piece of code written by Minuit about profiles (database thingy), I may be wrong or right, this need to be confirmed.

"or this will never see the light of day before anyone here is at least 60 years old."

The team prefer to take the necessary time to finish and polish the mod, "Done quick, done bad" (french proverb).

haters hate this mod since unmemorable versions! and as far i remember HLFX had awesome stuff even before COF why dont go and ask the cof team why they dont ask for help of the russian team for adding awesome stuff that only is for the eyes, cry of fear could be same as scary and awesome without all the graphic improvements, also if people is still waiting for HL1 mods is because they are not there for just the graphics

Excuse, but who are these people, mod saviors? I respect James and all, but you are comparing apples to oranges.

What you don't seem to get is that we have a life, besides this mod and also, other projects.

Since you like to compare, I've personally worked in lots of mods, mods I'm not even ******* credited, helped people around the globe (virtually and in person), released two mods, released 4 professional games, I won a national award, the framework I did for a company is used around the globe. Created (and developing) a mod about to be released, which the code is open source and helped TONS of people.

So... pal, that's what I've, personally been doing over the last 8 years. Not sure what your COF team did, go and ask them.

And sure, I'll keep ******* trying, is what gets you results mate, instead of getting stuck, felling sorry for yourself and complaining in other profiles about... progress.

Way to look like a total **********, bring up an argument with no god damn credibility, then throw it out the window with "Ever since you invited me to the project and then booted me out because I was in college back then" in one fell swoop.

Did you even read that over before you clicked the "save" button? Did you even notice how ******* pathetic that looked?

I'm going to be that one guy and ask if anyone here thinks that this mod looks seriously GOOD. Yes, it's impressive and I'll give SysOp every credit he deserves, because for an engine as old as GoldSource this is goddamn nice.

But that's all it will ever be, nice. I personally don't see why (CoF had this too) people came all over this shouting how it's beautiful. The texture quality is very nice, but it still, honestly, looks old. I can see this being fun for the creator if it's a project for himself, but if there's a story to be told for others I see no gain in this.

Maybe someone can explain me this, maybe not. Just, you know, saying.

Actually we had a tech barrier. They do happen and if you can't overcome then, you will fail to transmit what you want.

What about if Half-Life 2 wouldn't have physics? The gravity gun just wouldn't be possible and everything related with it falls apart. You could say "sure, physics are around since 1999" but if they couldn't implement it, HL2 wouldn' be what it is today.

So, if we want to show a very clean building, hi tech, we need ligthing and the world to appear as accurate as possible. When we tried to do this without HD textures, looked washed out and plain bad -> Am.half-lifecreations.com - so, as you can see, there's actually a reason to do it :D

Then why do GoldSource? Again, I'm not insulting this project or anything, but it just seems easier to do it on some else engine. Still, though, it's impressive work.

And on the side of physics, I was talking exactly graphics fidelity, and physics are a pretty giant gameplay element so that's not just a tech thing.

I'd venture a guess as to say they do it on GoldSource so it can be done on GoldSource. That's like, 50-70% of what makes this project so damn cool.

No problems mate, I know you comment in good faith!

Surely there are better options than gldsrc, but what other option do we have? Port everything to say Source, and waste a year or two, or implement the feature in a few days and keep on working on the final levels? :)

Oh, I didn't meant to port it anymore. I mean, who would ever do that after all the work you've done.

I just meant that wouldn't it had been easier to start with another engine or such.

Because that's ******* boring. Why do that when you can push a 98 standard engine into the modern generations?

I mean come on, why even ask?

Oh wow so much whining and people don't even know how important a created part of the mod is for a dev. Obviously he's trying to give his best, so why the whining? Would you really leave a bad look for a part of your imagination... sad

SysOp, I'm generally sorry that you have to deal with Pewdiepie's community (I know my hl community and those comments right there are from his crappy subscribers), I don't mean to offend anyone (except his fans) but arrangement is just as good as any other hl mod.

Back on track, nice HD textures, I'm glad you're working hard on trying to polish everything while adding new content. By the way, coding ain't easy (tried learning java and failed miserably) so don't hate on arrangement's work.

Hey! Actually, dave_5340 has been around since years ago, he was actually very supportive, even helped doing voices. Don't know what happened, something snapped. I actually never fired or kicked him or anyone in my life (I'm not kind of person really).

As for Java, you should check it out AS3, is fairly similar and easy for starters. Send me a PM and I can help you get back on tracks!

Description

Yes. HD Textures. They can replace any texture in the game (even models) with ease, with images up to 4086x4086.

I promised myself, I know, to not post only visual driven pictures, but this actually here means a lot.

We have been implementing new graphical features that will make possible some designs for the final area of the game. There was a tech barrier and now it's gone.

Our aim is to match Mirror Edge's style, with very clean textures, mixed up with Brutalism. I'm sure you guys will enjoy it!

We will post more great news very very soon!
