Grimm Quest for the Gatherer's Key is a Hack and Slash Fantasy game with some platforming elements that leans heavily on extremely bloody and satisfying gameplay. Players can explore a huge world that often offers several different routes that lead to accomplishment. Almost every part of it is customizable to taste, not only the graphical aspects but also it's gameplay aspects.
This is the final Windows release of Grimm:Quest for the Gatherer's Key. It offers many updates and bugfixes over the original releases and is the definitive free 'Mod' version.

- You are not allowed to redistribute any custom assets of this mod such as sounds/models/etc.. without prior written consent.

STARTING / INSTALLATION INSTRUCIONS:
- If you have a previous version of Grimm, remove it totally!
- Unrar/unzip the RAR or ZIP file you downloaded into the root of your doom 3 folder. e.g. (C:\Games\Doom 3) making sure to use the FOLDER extraction method.
- This will create a new folder called 'grimm' in the root folder of your doom 3 installation.
- Start Grimm from the 'mods' menu.
OR: Create a shortcut to Doom3 and add the following:
"+set fs_game grimm"
For example:
"C:\Program Files\Doom 3\DOOM3.exe" +set fs_game grimm
IMPORTANT: FOR ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BELOW.
Known issues & bugs:
Issue: Sometimes after switching very quickly between weapons the torch doesn't light up anything.
Fix: Switch to a different weapon and back
Issue: While using SSAO I can see artefacts everywhere, sometimes in the form of grain and other times I can clearly see the edges of transparent textures.
Fix: This is inherent for the Doom 3 engine and cannot be fixed. Either accept these graphical artefacts or turn of SSAO.
Issue: The game is far too dark!
Fix(es) There are many ways to fix this. You can adjust light levels using the g_brightness and g_gamma console options, or by adjusting them from the main menu. You can also adjust the ambient lighting properties, please read the sikkmod readme for more instructions about graphical issues, tweaks and performance.
Issue: Particles sometimes turn into black squares.
Fix: Save your game, restart Doom 3 and load your last saved game.
Issue: The game only runs on windows!
Fix: There currently is no version for either Linux or Mac available of Grimm, but I am planning to implement them in the future.

Issue: The game is too hard!
Fix: Play it on an easier mode, there is absolutely no shame in that whatsoever.
Grimm is harder than other games, especially on Hard. I myself have not even tested Nightmare mode but I am sure it's possible.
Can you play Grimm on nightmare mode? Make a movie on it and post it on youtube!
Issue: The game is too easy!
Fix: Play it on a harder difficulty mode, if you claim you can play it on nightmare... make a video of it and post it on youtube! :)
Issue: What is Grimm's Challenge?
Answer: It is a battle arena where you can hone your skills with the Scythe, quite addictive as well.
SO WHAT IS GRIMM QUEST FOR THE GATHERER'S KEY?
It's a fantasy hack&slash game with a lot of platforming elements that you might find in games like the Prince of Persia or Tomb Raider series, but from a First Person perspective. The world that players enter is wrought with danger. There are traps and enemies around each corner, coupled with pitfalls and abysses to cross. Cunning is often more important than quick reflexes (but those help too). The world of Grimm offers no remorse! Players will get very basic information and will have to learn how to travel this world by trial and error. Each weapon will require skill and has a learning curve. Most weapons have special attacks that can be used.

Background
Heaven and Hell are at war and have been closed off to new souls. Human souls now wander in purgatory after death, unable to go up to Heaven or descend down to Hell. The angel, Gabriel, has stolen The Grim Reaper's key of the Gatherer's Keep, the entrance to both Heaven and Hell. He is determined to fight his way through the souls in purgatory and the Demons and Angels in Heaven and in Hell to regain what is rightfully his and restore order.
You are the Grim Reaper.
And Lo those that stand in the way of the Grim Reaper and His Scythe.
For Ever Lasting Death will be their Fate.

"Educational and informational"? That's a funny way to qualify a fantasy game!
No, this is NOT the final version: it doesn't run in BFG edition, so you need to take care of that. Also, the lighting seems far from finished.
You are you to demand anything or tell the developer if is or not the final version! Only he can decide that and for your information this mod will never run on the BFG edition, the engines are very different, grimm uses ARB shaders, BFG uses Nvidia cg shaders, is almost impossible to make custom GUI's for it because the UI system relies on flash and you can't edit the existent ones because you don't have the source flash files and lastly but also very important sikkmod is totally incompatible with BFG edition as its shaders are ARB based and grimm makes heavy use of it.

does anyone still watch here because i am trying to play the final version of the mod but everytime i try it loads to a black screen then if i alt tabb out i see the main screen of the mod but also a window
saying im getting c++ runtime error anyone have any clue what could be causing this the error comes up as pure virtual function call 09db then when i click ok it just crashes
