This mod is the interpretation of my first and only mod I made so far in a way that I would have made it now. You can find the original on my profile but I wouldn't play it if I were you :D You have been warned!

What this mod promises? First of all, it had been completely remade (aside from 3 or 4 from the original mod) levels from scratch, a completely new story and few polished new systems:

  • If you have played the original mod, you will notice that there are no similarities between the original story and the new one (if the original one's story can even be called a story).
  • As stated previously, other than a few levels everything was remade from scratch.
  • The playtime will be extended by a lot (and not because there will be impossibly hard or trolly puzzles).
  • Many puzzle sections, each with a unique spin (so, not too many key puzzles). Puzzles' difficulty will ramp up from the game straight up telling you what to do at the start to not even having an update in your quest logs.
  • There are two paths in the story, that lead to two different endings and comepletely different levels.
  • A complex story that might need a second reading or interpretation to reveal every detail.

What the mod will not promise:

  • The best story ever that will make you think about it for years: the reason for this is very simple; I'm not that used to writing sotries. In fact, this is my very first story I write for anything but I will try my best (the story has already been rewritten multiple times).
  • Very revolutional things: even though I do my best to customise everything to my liking there are heavy limitations for me. The main limitation is the game's engine. If you have any experience with creating full conversion mods then you will very well know for example, the engine does not let you have multiple handheld lightsources, like the lantern. The other thing is that I'm not experienced in modeling which limits me to only Amnesia related models (altough Machine for Pigs' models did allow me to be more creative with my levels thankfully). This might change later but for now I don't want to get too much into modeling yet.

So then why make this mod?

Well, it's very much only a personal passion project (not the Radical Heights kind of passion project, but an actualy one). The development started when I showed this very old mod I made to one of my friends and realised how broken it was in reality. In fact, I don't think it was actually play tested from start to finish. So I decided I would patch things up, fix all the bugs and then upload that version so it can be finished. But there was one problem with it: I didn't like it at all. The story didn't make sense, the levels felt rushed and out of place and the puzzles while ambitious, ended up being unfun or broken. So I decided to remake a few thing in the mod to make it a lot better but then I got into another problem: the story was...let's just say bad (but it is an understatement). So I decided to rewrite the story to make more sense. Right now in time, we are around April-March 2018. Fast forward a few months when I did not work on the project (didn't have the time and motivation at that time). It is now August. I thought about the whole thing again and realised that by strictly making a remake I limit myself way too much and thus I decided to just completely scrap the entire idea of the mod being a remake other than in its name. This way I have a lot more creative freedom in the story and I can really put my hearth and soul into this project. This is also the reason why it is not done yet. Originally I planned to call it "Grandpa's mansion 2018 remake" but not so long ago I realised that I will not be done by the end of 2018 if I actually want to take my time and not rush the entire thing like I did with the original. This is also the reason why the release date is TBD (editor's note, it isn't anymore, look below for more details). If there is one thing I learned from Valve and recently Crowbar ent. (the makers of the Half-life 1 remake, Black Mesa) is that if it is possible, don't rush myself with deadlines. But enough of the hippie bs, I truly want to make this a very enjoyable experience that has a unique style from the base game but still retaining some of its charm. The mod will probably not live up to my wildest imaginations but I do my best to make it as great as I can possibly do in a reasonable time frame.

So I saw many people saying that you can't complete the Offices puzzle. You can. You have to get the window stuck with a chair and pull the lever from the other side. Also a hint: you can get the thing stuck on your head and then place the chair under it so you can get outside and pull the lever ;)

Sorry for the late reply. I saw the very very bad reviews and I was very depressed for a quite a few days dreading to look at this page and finding even more bad reviews. Thankfully I found some support in the comments but you guys had problems with one of the hardest puzzles (arguably) in the mod so I ask two questions. Would you guys want me to make a puzzle guide video? Just in case you get stuck :) I saw one person asking for a lore video but I'd like to keep the lore for the players' imagination :)

when i pull the lever for the big door in the office, the monster kills me and when i come back to life the door wont open. cant finish the mod :(

Watch the patterns where you picked up the books and you have to match them in the room. Also you can just skip it anytime, you are required to complete 2 rooms (and one of them is not a puzzle) to be able to build up to the well :)

It has been cut due to time constraints if I'm not mistaken, I'll just copy-paste the note here (it is bad that is why it has been cut but you deserve to read it):

"After months of experimenting I have got the exact formula. First the Mercury. You will have to make them inhale enough Mercury over time for them to go mad. This happens because Mercury weakens their souls and their animalistic instincts come out. This is why first transporting these subjects to the Dungeons is key. If you see horror on their faces first, their souls are weak and are of no use to us. If they act agressively then they are perfect. It's a small difference but it's the more important. After that, we usually send them to the Asylum for storage. It is much closer to the Laudanum labs where we are completing the extraction.[br][br]When the individual is ready, we get them to the extraction room where we chain them up (they become extremely agressive once the extraction has started) and drink them a bottle of Grandium. This results in serious pain for the subject and some won't even survive it. Many died, but many of them just became non-responsive to outside stimulus. They were very much alive but did not react to anything. There was one exception who became extremely hostile towards humans and lost every last bit of empathy for others that is left in them. We are still investigating why.[br][br] The dead become Shells. Lifeless and soulles coprses those become heavily reactive with other chemicals, especially Grandium. The mixture of Mercury and Grandium in their body will make them even explosive. The result of the extraction is about 2-4 gramms of pure gold."
