Freeworlds: Tides of War is a fan built Star Wars total conversion mod for Digital Anvil's Freelancer game that was released several years ago. When fans began to make mods for Freelancer, one of the many things people were keen on seeing was a Freelancer mod based on the Star Wars universe developed by George Lucas. Freeworlds and Tides of War were the answer to this outcry. The development team of both mods have now joined forces to create an epic new Star Wars TC, Freeworlds: Tides of War.
We have been fortunate enough to obtain two very good modeller/texturers on the team of late and they've started to produce some very high quality work. The first developer, Nemisis, had a task to improve the texture of our Pirate Ugly Starfighter fleet, which you can find more information on here. Nemi's tried to make these "pretty" uglies more grungy and grimy. I think he succeeded in his task to make them look more Pirate-esque.
Nemi's next project is creating new texture for our A-9 Interceptor.
The other new developer is named, HotDog. He is a fabulously talented individual who comes to the mod through Shattered Worlds: War Torn (another wonderful mod for Freelancer). In just 3 short days, he's produce some epic work. I present to you, the new XQ-4 Platform
His next set of work is to make a new model for our Corellian Patrol Ship using these sketches as a blueprint:
And then tackle Centerpoint Station:
As always any comments, suggestions or questions are always welcomed!
For the 3rd year running the time has come to kick off Mod Appreciation Week 2017 and talk about our favorite mods. To thank those from our community who participate in spreading the love and awareness, we have partnered up with some friends of Mod DB and have a bunch of Steam keys to giveaway:
Nothing is more motivating than knowing something you've built is being enjoyed by others. So this week if there is a mod you love on Mod DB (or anywhere else), make the effort to shout out to them, mention and link their mod in a tweet, blog, forum or facebook post with the hashtag #modlove2017
After you have linked to a mod in a tweet, blog, forum or facebook post, let us know by leaving a comment with a link to your post. At the end of the week we shall be picking a few members at random who followed these rules, and will send them a key from one of the above games.
