After playing Stalker Multiplayer on really detailed maps, this map doesn't look too much visual appealing to me. The second screenshot has some kind of train maquette in it and image looks empty and without any appealing (the floor is a little bit better though), and the 3rd screenshot lacks drastically any detail. Also first screenshot show us some grass around and a car model, and some premade wall texture and shapes, this is all I see.
If you wanna do maps with a lot of detail in, watch for original doom3 DM maps regarding wall shapes and architecture (yet the very very big disadvantage doom3 has is the lack of vertical action and all rooms are too short so you hit the ceiling with your head when jump, stupid programmers, they scaled the engine resolution yet did not scale the maps and all the rest), and for realistic aspect with lot of details watch for stalker dm maps (ingame maps, not custom pile of **** there you find a lot).
You really want to create great maps you gotta put the level of detail u find in stalker (in that game even the ceilings and the floors have 1000 irregularities), construct wall brushes like u see in doom3, put some great water in the map and particule effects like u see in Bioshock, watch for dm_monastery from old UT regarding the architecture and the vertical action you need, and the final result might be something worth a try. Custom textures needed, also. Why all dm maps have crappy grey floor tiles and grey walls with some kind of cheap border at the middle? If you remove playermodels from the 3rd screenshot, you could not tell this is UT map or a quake4 map. Evolve, people. Lol.

does anyone else find it a little funny that this guy is bitchin about how this map that he got for free should be more like the games you have to pay anywhere from $50-$60 for?
what a hater...
personally, i haven't downloaded your map yet. every map has room for more improvements but i doubt your map needs as much as this guy says.
its looks great though. keep up the good work!

Why am I doubting he really even PLAYED the map? How can you compare Stalkers world to this apocalyptic one? This map IS visually appealing with alot of details built onto the map without a horde of clutter and such thrown over every inch of the ground. Unless he made the map for a separate mod or anything of that sort it wont have any special base its being built from and therefore will be off on its on in any genre. Try not telling someone there maps should be like someone elses because you like them more, that's just ignorant and selfish.

Also the third screenshot is a corner of a staircase in what appears to be a train depot. It would be easy to tell UT3 over Quake 4 by the lighting they use and the style in general. The walls and floors have irregularities without going overboard and pulling up every 5th tile. How can you expect a 5 m X 5 m meter area to be as visually appealing as the bigger, more open parts of the map?

But don't bash the guy hes not saying "Zomg noob map u failsauce i h9t3 u u r uber newb" like other people say. Yes he is a little on the offensive but not enough to hate.

This is exactly the sort of thing I've been talking about for years. He went into DETAIL why he didn't like the map. Granted, some of the stuff he says is silly and inane- I don't have UT3, will never BUY UT3, you couldn't PAY me to play UT3, and thus will probably never play this map, but even I can tell he doesn't know what he's talking about. But at least he goes beyond the usual "IMA STAB UR **** IN TEH *** U ****." Moddb is pretty much devoid of meaningful discussion as it is- why do we have to kill it when it DOES show up? Stop minusing people who have different opinions from yours.

thanks for the crit man, ill take it into consideration, i would love you todownload it as i put alot of effort in the atmosphere, there no music in the map all you hear is wind blowing and complete silence. i will agree that the map could be better but building custom content is hard. I learned alot from making this map and will use the knowledge i gained in making my other 2 maps.

thanks for taing your time and pointing out what you dont like.

i suggest everyone try it out, it might not be the greatest map ever made i am happy with the result.

when you fire it up just stand still and let the atmosphere suck you in.

my next map lost connectio will be a bigger deathmatch map i expect a release in the next 2 months.

I saw you working on this on GA-Artist,
I meant to leave some crit but didnt get time, anyway looks pretty nice, the only thing I dont really like is the general composition of the scene, The sky seems to be overe DOF'd and general not much going on above the house line.
I didnt like the way your maps were bordered, with fence. Not really enough cover in the main exterior area.
But still nice,

I was gonna say the same like Tkaza. congrats for getting this far and getting your custom static meshs ingame. It takes some experience to get textures right in the material editor and I'm sure you learned quite a lot from it.
I have the same issue like Myles with the sky. It looks like there is nothing above the ground fog and I think I'd rather see a layer of fog on the ground than all over the place. Maybe it could also be darker outside, so you can use lights to some effect. Nice start, keep on working. Find a mod - the Haunted, e.g. and help them.

renegade-x all the way i havent done alot for them lately been busy with personal projects but hope to get back into the swing of things soon.

i work * hours a day so it can be hard to find time to do things like this.

well I do agree that the guy who posted that was undoubtedly an idiot, and knows nothing, I only somewhat agree on your post. It is a map after all. Judging the book by its cover with a map is....somewhat understandable
