I like to announce EVE: RTS (work name) It's a mod about EVE Online developed by myself, featuring ships and other objects directly from the original Game. Models and Textures were extracted using TriExporter. CCP confirmed that I can use their Artwork. (see end of summary)
Currently I have 2 Milestones done.
The first is the Base of this Gamemode - The Jumpnode.
The Second is the pretty cool randommapgenerator I wrote.
The Generator is not completly final - as it can not choose random objects from lists jet. But regarding the work done this is pretty simple. Only tmiecunsuming, because I have to make the Object lists ready. It currently features:
- Randompoints wich ensure a Minimum Distance to each other.
- Support for all kinds of Spawns from Asteroids and Clouds to Ships and Points and Salvage.
- Easily Changeable for everyone because it involves only one function and a simple set of loops. So anyone may use and mod it.
- Possible Multiplayer compatibility because of setable randomseed. So hopefully no Out of Sync here.
The Jumpnode may get a better spawning effect. Currently it simply enlarges and Launches the "Buid" Object.
The next Milestone will be the Gamemode Coding.
This may take a while.
The Gamemode will work like this.
You spawn with a set of Jumpnodes.
You call in your ships to fight and harvest. (like vanilla hw)
You can only get Capitals from this Jumpnodes.
You can take control of enemy Jumpnodes if you manage to kill all nearby ships and have yours near it.
You should win if the Enemy has no Builders left/Lost all of it's ships/Does not manage to regain control over a Builder after a certain time.
I hope this illustrates my current plans pretty well.
If all works out like intended the AI will handle it without additional scripting efforts. It's intended to be adaptable with any default Hw gameplay mod, that will not include custom unit scripts.
Best Regards and a Happy new year 2014 to everyone!
Mr.Thi
