This is the Rebel Variant of the Venator SD.
It will have blue lasers instead of the Green ones.
They will be a little weaker.

You guys are going with the thought that green lasers are the most powerful? I've always thought of the Blue ones being more powerful since (when it comes to light) colors with a lower wavelength/ higher frequency have more energy. I may be wrong though as superheated gas and light are 2 different things.

In physic terms you are right!
But the Republic used blue lasers in the Clone Wars and when the Empire has risen they changed it to green. So I guess green ones are more sophisticated ;)

Isnt it a thing of Capacity? I mean, it depends on how much heated gas can be shot from turret. So i think that the color only has a symbolical meaning.

Yeah but it's a well known fact that the venator's main guns rivaled that of the imperial mk1 star destroyer's, they only became less powerful when they upgraded to the mk2 which had more powerful guns with like 2-3 times the barrels.

Lasers do not concern me, commander.

I was always under the assumption that Blue type lasers had a bit more of an "ion" effect which made them more effective against droids, thus their heavy use during the clonewars.

On blasters you'd be right, but on ships? If that's the case why not just use Ion Cannons?

Because Ion cannons don't generally do damage they just shut crap off really.

Different types of focusing crystals for turbolasers the blue is specialized ionizied good against droid/droid ships. Green is kyber crystals do far more damage.

I see some flawed logic. Ionized bolts may do more damage to droids, but a ship is a ship. Without factoring in armor, a blue turbolaser bolt would do the same amount of damage to a Providence Destroyer as it would to an Imperial Star Destroyer.

Where did that Kyber Crystal business come from?

"The turbolaser was a heavy laser cannon equipped with large banks of capacitors, allowing them to build up and store far more powerful energy bursts than standard cannons. These capacitors gave huge energy bursts to the beam, greatly increasing its power over standard laser cannons. They also helped power the galven coils in the barrels of turbolasers. First, a particle beam was generated in the manner standard of blasters and laser cannons. Then even more power was achieved by guiding this laser cannon particle-beam through another stream of energized Tibanna Gas (besides the one used in generating the initial beam, since laser cannons work on the same principle as blasters) to increase its power. The extra capacitors in a turbolaser that store huge amounts of raw energy then contributed to the beam by energizing it even further as it moved to the turbolaser's barrel. The resulting beam carried roughly three or more times the energy of a standard laser cannon beam."

I don't see anything about Kyber Crystals in there.

I always thought that when the blue bolt hit a droid controlled ship, it might do localized ionic damage to wherever it hit in addition to the standard "Big-bada-boom". Could be helpful in doing more damage to weapons batteries on droid ships if they weren't controlled from the bridge directly.

That's what I'm talking about. :)

And yes, it looks fantastic! But I should be careful when I use the Rebel Venator during space battles, it needs several CR90 corvette/Nebulon-B frigate escorts.

One Rebel Venator is also capable of eliminating Imperial Arquitens-class light cruisers.

The Escorts are highly recommended since the Venator is not that agile and fast. Imagine a hidden strike from the back. In this case the CR-90s can react way faster than the Venator could do.

The Arquitens-Class are no match for a Stardestroyer of the Venator class :)

I will need the Executor for this.

All acting aside, this is the best Rebel Venator I've ever seen. I love the Rebel symbol on it!

Very nice Rebel Venator. I hope some day they will show one on screen being used by the Rebellion. Seems like the Empire doesn't use them much anymore if at all since they have the Imperator class so decommissioning some of the older Venators makes sense especially ones that have seen heavy use. Rebels could raid an Imperial scrap yard where they are decommissioning some and make off with a few.

ArmchairAkula,

We aren't quite sure yet, but we don't want it to replace the mainline Rebellion star cruisers.

I would not put this sweet piece of galactic history under the rule of a build limit....
