ESF is a fast paced, 3rd person fighter based on the hit anime, Dragonball Z. Select your favorite character and fly, power up, transform, melee, and beam your enemies into pulp. Each character is given signature moves and abilities to compliment different style of play. Some are stronger in hand to hand combat, others are better with energy attacks. Play in three different game modes, deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the dragonballs. There is a learning curve so newbies beware. This is not your normal Half-life mod.

i think being able to fly this high is a good thing i remember in the anime the characters would fight all around the world in a single bout, so by being able to fly this high in the map would kinda bring about the feeling of a arena with no boundries

i've never seen any map like that. it's big, eye-friendly and totally awesome. your mod looks like a different game, not only a mod. you should relase box version, my games collection must contain this mod :)
and i have two questions for you:
1. is it possible to add motion blur to your mod? (i think it will looks very nice when flying; motion blur not too strong, like in source games)
2. i loved that song. can you give me title?

The mapper determines the fighting area and no one can leave it. But as far as possibilities go. that video kinda shows it off XD
But why not make a mode where you are not restricted too the box. Why waste such a stunning thing as that. I think its epic, and really shows off your skills as mod developers. Truly amazing.
You could always add some kind of speed booster that can't be used in melee but used to get from one place to another. By doing that it will push ESF to another level of epic battles. Just a suggestion really id hate to see this gone its really quite amazing.
Great job sofar. I've been playing ESF since the very first release along time ago cant wait to play 1.3.

It can be that huge. It just wont. As i said its possible, but we will have our maps limited. No use flying 5 minutes to a fight that ends just as fast.
yea but the unboxed version would make a great beam battle map ^_^
can you add a beam only option(for players and bots) to the game settings? because the new fighting looks great but i think i will suck even worse at this one....
The un-boxed version would be melee only. As there is no roof, the game interprets you as being in the void automatically blowing all beams up in your face. Nothing we can do about that. The box is a requirement for beams, though melee works just fine XD
As for disabling melee. Not from our side. There are always AMXX pluggins that disable weapon usage
As for melee sucking. We took a step back and made it like ye old ESF 1.1 since we took that system as a base. And it was by far the most loved system.

And why don't you make a pretty cool animation or mini-movie for leaving the map? That would be cool and everyone have got a much free feeling like the method in the Tenkachi games or in Raging Blast.

Yea we simply make a box round the area with a shield like animated texture that apears only when you are close to tell you you cant go past. Easier and less confusing for the player.

The highest quality mod ever... I dare you all to find a mod that improves and transforms an old game engine to that extent that it's unrecognizable.
i am not with you on that one, i mean sure it is one of the most worked up mods i saw, but there are other mods wich have the same amount of work done. (sven coop, project reality, nehrim at fates edge just to name a few)

Grega was saying that they'll blow up in your face if we don't use the playable area box. As I understand it, the box defines an area to make the beams useable. This has to do with the way we broke the map size limit in HL and loaded our own model scheme.
Partly right. We ignore the BSP files, making the player move round in the void. But in order for beams to work they need to be fired from an enclosed area. Since the engine erases any projectile weapons that get into the void.
Meaning if we dont create a closed room, the beam will be treted as if it left the map area and explodes. Its fixable, but if we do that, then every kiblast or ball attack ever fired will start flying into eternity and will lag the server.

Yes. Cause the completed map will have a boundary in place that prevents people from leaving the fighting area.
Dont get me wrong though. The fighting area is still quite large, but you wont be able to go this far from it.
