Dystopia is a is a total conversion of the Source Engine that places players into tense combat situations in a high-tech world spanned by computer networks. As Punks or Corporate Mercenaries, players will fight through the physical world to gain access, via Jack-in Points, to cyberspace. Cyberspace is a three dimensonal representation of the world's network. In cyberspace, players must fight off enemy hackers and launch programs to gain control of critical systems and to affect the physical world. Gameplay progresses through inter-linked physical and cyberspace objectives, and players must work together to achieve victory for their team. Players will be immersed in action-packed battles, whether as a heavily augmented combat mercenary armed to the teeth with the latest in firepower and cybernetic implants, or as a twitch-reflex cyberdecker racing to infiltrate a cyberspace node.

We're definitely not the first team to find that their mod has been broken by an update from the engine developer, and I'm sure we won't be the last.

In the latest Steam update Valve have changed the way the a few other things work in the Source engine; bloom, vgui screens, lighting shaders and more. This is causing some major issues in Dystopia. You may have noticed that the thermal effect has gone pretty wacky. Worse than this though, is the fact that looking at a vgui screen will crash to desktop.

We're eagerly awaiting Valve's release of an update for the Source SDK, then we'll be busting hump to get Valve's changes merged into our code base.

Until this happens there is zero Team Dystopia can do.

We are extremely frustrated and will have an update released as soon as humanly possible to return Dystopia to working order. Thanks for your patience.

After Dystopia stopped working, I've resorted to playing CS:S. It's funny because I forget how fast I die. Why aren't there any jack-in points on de_dust?

Depends. If Valve sees Dystopia, commercially fit, as they did with CS and DoD, then they'd sell it. But there is an upside to that. If it's sold, then it'll be available through steam. If it's available through steam, more people will play it. If more people play it, then we'll get better support for it. I.E. bug fixes, player model updates, frequently new maps. All that jazz. And if it's an official 1st party mod, then no steam update will EVER RUIN IT AGAIN.

I figured out why there aren't any jack-in points in de_dust. de_dust is in a poverty stricken area in the middle east! Who woulda thought.

"The full release will only be sold if we're able to organise with Valve for it to be a full stand alone game. We will never charge for Dystopia while it's a HL2 addon."
