Draconian Empire is a total conversion mod for the game Homeworld 2, wich updates the graphics engine (shaders, effects, models,etc) and adds a brand new singleplayer campaign with three new races with each their own ships, new weapons, subsystems and sounds.

Graphical Features:

  • Updated Graphics engine: new Shader 2.0 textures with bump/normal maps & dynamic per-pixel lightning.
  • New weapon, explosion and trail FX with updated lightning engine
  • New interface & menu's: it is a whole new game!
  • New textures: the Draconians will feature a very futuristic/alien style, while humanity has a more retro look.

Gameplay Features:

  • Brand new singleplayer storyline about humanity in their early days of space-travel and the rise of the Draconian Empire up to the birth of the Hiigaran people. A prequel to the first Homeworld. Features new cinematics and possibly multiple story-branches.
  • New tactics: Human's, who are technologically far less advanced then their opponents, rely on their wits and stealth. While the draconians rely more on close-combat firepower.
  • New ships and races: the Draconians, Humans & a strange Alien race with each their own new research & build trees
  • New offensive and defensive weaponry with new ship-stat defining subsystems
  • Most ship's start as bare hulls wich can be fully customized and upgraded as the player wishes. Subsystem thus play a bigger role in the game.
  • Maps are dynamic with moving asteroids, planets, stars (with radiation fields) and space-anomalies such as black holes and Nebulae.

Music & Sound Features:

  • The mod will feature a brand new Soundtrack made by Evil Turtle Studios, our music department.
  • All new ships & fx have custom sounds & the story will be told by a voice-acting cast.

Hello folks!

DE has had alot of updates since last release.

Here is the new ISSUES/BUGS list:

KNOWN ISSUES/BUGS:
Unsolved bugs have a "-" in front of them, bugs where im currently working on a "o" and solved bugs will have a "v" and are striked through. Compability:
o DE does not run on WINDOWS 7 (64bit, 32 bit prob. not also), possible solution found, needs testing
o Mac/WINE users can't use Shader 2.0, so a shader-less version is needed.
- DE runs slower on older machines due to the graphical improvements.

Graphical:
v Weapon FX needs to be revised, replace Human miniguns with lasers and update hit FX's
o UPDATE new shield effects, still some troubles with implementing this
o All ships need proper LOD's + Warship misses LOD's: warship is solved
v Draconians could use a new texturing style
v Draconian Fighter models are kinda low-poly, could use revisions

v Human Repair-Droid texture misses tangent calculations, so it looks kinda fugly
v Human Shipyard (Valhalla) has no textures.
- UI needs more changing & the subsystem build-menu could use more tabs (so many subsystems!)
v Need to make UI's for all resolutions (now only 1280x1024 is supported).
Audio/Music:
v Menu music needs to be revised a bit.
v Replace/make unit voice and command files

Singleplayer:
v When pressing the escape-button during a mission the screen often goes black.
v After repairing your ship with the repair-droid during mission 2 the screen goes black suddenly.

o pre-mission 3 cinematic reverts to stock HW2 cinematic: video works, audio is still buggy
v Intro cinematic does not show DE title at the end but instead shows Evil Turtle Productions again.
v Localization misses .dat files, causing original HW2 texts and voice-acting to appear. Needs fix.

o finish the first three missions so there is a working singleplayer "demo campaign" (almost done!)
Multiplayer:
o AI does not work properly yet, do not build stuff and do not research.
v Make new CPUBuild tables for the new weapon subsystems.o Make new AI Build and Research tables for the new ship subsystems (shields etc)
- Revise AI for some better tactics (also maybe more AI menu options)

Other:
v Replace two Supressor Frigate's weapon slots with sensor slots.
v Need to make SHIELD-subsystems for draconians.


SVN REPOSITORY:

Please note that i have not ever done this before so it'll prob take some time before everything is set up correctly.

This should be the correct SVN link to the files of DE:
EDIT: UNFORTUNATELY SETTING SVN UP ON A LOCAL REP (ON MY PC) ISNT SO SUCCESFULL. I AM CURRENTLY STRUGGLING TO GET AN SVN REP ON A SERVER SO BEAR WITH ME.

concerning your problem that the screen goes black when hitting escape: Did you enable skipping anywhere in your scripts? (Universe_EnableSkip(1)) Because this leads to a black screen when hitting escape.

Could it be that you are using mac or wine or something?
As far as i can tell there are no problems with the dustclouds-files or shaders. (or do you have other mods installed?)

everytime when i start a match or single player it starts loading but at the end when i must load ''dustcloudgroups'' it terminates the game>.< can somebody help me?did i do something wrong? i read the whole readme file but nothing helps
