Endlessly roaming through the Space, an alien fleet is closing to a blue planet. Its inhabitants, blissfully unaware of the upcoming threat, are struggling with the chaos they have to face everyday. And yet, it will all soon change. The world will finally become united against a common enemy. The Earth will never be the same anymore. But what will this war bring? Do the humans stand any chance against such a foe? Will everyone willingly join to fight the alien thread? And why, do the aliens seem to look so human-like?...
A certain Russian military expert once proclaimed the return of the land battleship in its full glory, due to rising precision and reliability of anti-projectile laser and rocket systems. Many laughed at what supposed to be delusions of a man with an overgrown ego.
Many years later, the same man was looking out of a window of an armored transporter, watching as one of the monstrosities he helped to design moved across the horizon. Soon they will be safe inside it.
As it fired its ion cannon at some distant target, he couldn't help himself but smirk at the thought of those that claimed he's insane. Now all dead.
A sudden overhead explosion interrupted his thoughts, as the transporter shook and stopped. It didn't bother him, though. He knew that GAIA just shot down another meteorite that was heading its way. Nothing can touch it from afar. The transport resumed its mission, and headed towards its destination.
That night, another city was cleansed from the aliens.
So it can attack air and ground with an ion cannon from siege range?
It uses lasers and missiles (and whatever infantry inside will provide) against air. Ion cannon is long-ish range, ground only.
And yes, infantry can fire from inside.
