Deathmatch Quaked : Source is a tribute to the work of Valve and id for their work on Deathmatch Classic and QuakeWorld. We will bring the game into this decade by adding more game modes and gameplay options while retaining the fast paced feel of the originals. It is very important to us that we retain the physics of QW while adding great eye candy and competitive game modes.

Juse because it is a remake, it doesn't mean you have to have the weapons in the center. It obscures the view. That is what the Crosshair is for.

It's not my design choice, but seems as valid as any other position to me.
Yes: Centerweapon. It's DMC / Quake, not Half-Life. Also: there are options and cvars (for the beta you can use r_drawviewmodel and turn it off if you're offended by the sight of weapons in your FOV). :D
i like the centered weapons, but i think the oldschool gl from quakeworld looked cooler.
