This is a Total Conversion mod that i'm working on using the MAX PAYNE 1 Gaming engine (MaxED). The mods based on the 1978 Cult Classic Zombie Horror movie DAWN OF THE DEAD, & i'm trying to stick as closely as can to the movie, & as closely as the MaxED will allow me. I'm also using the DIRECTORS CUT version of the movie as refferance. This mod will have the same story, weapons, characters, music, & green skinned Zombies as the original movie, & just like that movie you will have to shoot the Zombies in the head to kill them.

Well this seems like a neat idea but if you're working solo on such a big project... well, realistically you won't be able to complete it and this mod WILL die. Why don't you aim smaller and get a couple playable levels out for a release, instead of trying to complete an entire game by yourself before you release anything playable?

To be quite honest, I've started working on another project, simply because there's a certain member on this site that has been stealing my ideas for this project. Jesus, they even stole my 'Dawn Of The Dead' Avatar that I was using on this site, which is why i'm now using a diffrent Avatar.

I'm now working on a Total Conversion project using the updated Max Payne 2 game engine (MaxEd2), which is far more advanced then the Max Payne 1 engine (MaxEd).

However, I will not be posting up anything about my new project untill the work is almost entirely complete, because of project thieves ( as mentioned above ), but all I can say is that my new project is a Si-Fi project that will probably be a big hit because it contains a cult character that most people love, & it's a character that i've never seen done in a game before.

Anyway, onto the reason for this post.

There's 3 questions that I keep getting ask over & over again concerning this mod that, well, quite frankly I find baffling. They are as follows:

(1). Is this mod dead.
(2). Why Is the mod taking so long to complete.
(3). Why am I using such an old game engine to create this mod.

In answer to question No.1 - Is this mod dead:

Please be assured that if this mod was dead I would remove the mod's profile pages from this site as what would be the point in dispalying them anymore if the mod was never going to be released. So please don't keep asking this question as your comment will only be removed by myself.

Unlike most other mods on this site I am working solo on this mod, meaning I am doing everything on my own, & considering that this is a Total Conversion mod in which I am attenpting to copy an entire movie, you be able to begin to understand that this is no mean feat for one person alone.

So with the above being said, you have to keep in mind that when i'm not able to work on this mod ( because of real life commitments ), then no one else is, so production halts. This is unlike most other mods on this site that have teams working on them.

On this note, this mod is also only a hobby of mine & not a full time thing, unlike a lot of other mods being worked on, on this site, which is great if you &/or your team have the time spare, but personally as a modder who's working solo, I find that real life commitments & problems have to take precedence, & believe me I have had some very big real life problems to deal within the last 2 years or more ( as mentioned in previous posts ), so production has had to come to a halt on this mod for all that time, as I neither had the time or presents of mind to work on this mod during this time period.

However, I have recently taken up the mantel to start working on this mod again & so I hope to soon be posting New Screenshots of my latest work on this mod, if not at the end of this month ( Dec, 2013 ), then definitely in early Jan, 2014, so keep your eyes pealed.

This is perhaps the most baffling of all the 3 questions to me. Purely because there are still mods being made out there for Half-Life 1, & even DOOM 1 ( also note that a DOOM 1 mod is currently in the Top 100 of MOTY's this year ), & the Max Payne game engine ( MaxED ), has a younger & far more advance & capable engine then both these games.

With that said it would also be wise to keep in mind that in modding it's not about how old the game engine is that you are using to create your mod. It's down to what you can do with, & bring to that engine, & believe me i've done things with the Max Payne engine ( MaxED ), that were thought simply not possible when the original Max Payne game was released in 2001, as many have also done with the Half-Life 1 game engine in the past & present.

Ultimately modding is about how good a game your finished project is & not what game engine you are using to create that project, as there are many modern games out there today that have been made on vantasticly powerfull game engines that are just all eye candy & no substance, & are games that simply don't live upto many of the older games of yesteryear, in both the story telling, or the replayability departments.

In conclusion, I hope my answers to the 3 questions above will lay these 3 questions to bed once & for all as you also might want to keep in mind that these 3 questions are the bane of every modders life as they are asked these 3 same questions over & over again, by members of this sites community that are most often not modders themselfs & so do not understand the hard work & long hours that are needed to produce even a very small mod let alone a Total Conversion mod, & it's also these 3 same questions that have made many modders give up on their projects in the past due to the outside pressures of this sites community, & as a result many great looking mods have fallen by the wayside, never to see the light of day. Even I myself have thought about stopping my work on this mod at times in the past simply because of the pressure of being asked these 3 questions constantly, but thankfully I have found the strength & presents of mind to continue.

Keep up the amazing work man, im a massive massive massive george romero / dawn of the dead fan (pretty much watch it atleast once a week if not more.)

Ive always wanted a game that lets you relive the film but there is nothing being made at all apart from this so ive been following this for a long time and look forward to the new screenshots/info, take all the time it takes man, no rush, ill keep checking back every now and again and hopefully one day i get to play it :D
