This is a T.C for MAX PAYNE 1 that I'm working on that's based on the 1978 Zombie Horror classic DAWN OF THE DEAD ( & not the 2004 remake ). I'm trying to stick to the movie as closely as the MP1 engine will allow me & I'm also using a DIRECTORS CUT version of the movie for refferance. This T.C has the same story, weapons, characters, music & green skinned zombies as the original movie, & just like the movie you have to shoot the zombies in the head to kill them. Also any weapons that became avalible to characters in the movie will also become avalible to them in this T.C & at the same time & places in the plot.

Hi,

No I haven't yet started on the Mall map yet, but seeing that i'm trying to copy the whole movie with this mod there's been quite a few maps/level's to build before I actually get to the mall map, but i'm looking forward to starting that map.

However, once work has started on then mall maps/level's my progress on this mod should increase as more then half of this mods level's are set inside the mall, as most of the movie was set in the mall, so I will only have to make minor map ajustments for each level once I've started working on the mall levels. Not forgetting of course that there will also be an external map of the mall for any outside level's/action.

At the moment i'm just finishing work on the map/level called The Meeting Point, where all of the main characters meet up for the first time to escape the city by chopper ( as in the movie ), & after this map/level there will be just one more map/level to build before I start work on the mall maps/level's, which will bring me to 5 non mall maps/level's.

You might also have worked out by now that I am working on my maps in chronological order as dictated by the movies scenes.

Thanks for your interest.....;-)

did you have to script a lot of the a.i. or does the max payne engine give you a lot of support for that? also did you create every model, animation, texture?

the mall will be a nightmare to model, here's a good reference anyway:
www.mallofthedead.net
it gives you a few floor plans and a lot of pictures.

Hi, thanks for your interest,

Although Max Payne does have it's own resonable A.I network system, I have had to script most of A.I for my maps myself.

Also: 90% of the prefab models ( animated or otherwise ), are my own work, along with most of the texturing work, & the mapping is 100% my own work.

However, I have never confessed to be a character modeler so I just have to rely on my reskinning work to make new characters, which works rather well seeing that where only talking about zombies here & not monsters as normal character models can easily be reskinned to look like zombies.

Theres also 1 or 2 new character animations which I've programmed in & which i'm using along side some others that other Max Payne modders have kindly let me use.

Thanks once again for the interest, & thanks for the link, thoughs maps will come in very handy when I start on the mall levels.
