Darkest Hour: Normandy 1944 is a modification for red orchestra. It will focus on the normandy campaign in 1944 and will not only cover the landings and airborne drops of the 6th of June 1944 but it will also include the epic large scale tank battles that took place in the later stages of the campaign. Holy crap! this is going to be grate! But I think that after he touches a ground he should roll or something to be more realistic you know, feel the impact.
We thought about doing that but the 1st and 3rd person animation and coding for it would be a nightmare it might be something we'll add later though.
what about forcing player to go prone? That could work as well, I think, temporary that is.
or even better u could make a pilot class to fly the plane .exp red light, green like lol or make the parachuter break his legs if he lands wrong =P
pilot class is out im afraid the maps are too small to make turning a c53 plausible or indeed implementing it in anyway. I had an arguement with a guy about planes in RO which IMO could be done...he thought otherwise although I'm a qualified pilot he thought he knew better. Anyway i digress with the C53 it just isn't practical i'm afraid. As far as leg breaking and going prone...i guess we could look at forcing the player to go crouched to simulate a kind of roll going prone would look a bit funny from 3rd person if u get me...the guy would hit the ground the kind of face plant into it. I'll have a talk with our coder and animator.
yea i guess ur right about the pilot thing, but will you guys be releasing a beta for the mod, if so i can hardly wit for it to come !!!!!! and about the m1 carbine the magazine looks allitle funny. Anyway this mod is soo kick ass it is not even funny i can hardly wait1!!

RO runs on steam so yhea you will need RedOrchestra ost-front and steam for the mod to work.

I was just thinking that with the parachute system, it should be like other games where you would have a countdown, HOWEVER, the countdown would be how long before the green light comes on and you are able to jump from the craft. While the light is red, you wouldn't be able to jump.
It just seems to me right now that you can jump from the plane at any time, which is good, but probably better when the light is green.
I also thought it may be a pain with other players blocking people from jumping out, that could get really REALLY annoying. So perhaps have some sortof a push trigger when you stand in the way of the door that forces people out of the door when the light is green.
What map it is?
You guys shouls think about making this into a full blown game that way you can brush up the system a bit better but the mod is good

Looks nice. Would it be possible to make it so if your parachuting down and land in a tree, that you get stuck and have to knife the rope? I don't think it's possible, but I'm not a modder!
