~~~~~~~~
Includes;
~~~~~~~~
First Age, Third Age, and Fourth Age Main Campaigns along with many Custom Campaigns. Second Age is currently unplayable. Everything needed is located in the installers folder, anything outside of that folder is optional.
~
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Installation;
~~~~~~~~~~~~
For installation on Kingdoms 1.5 and an unmodified version of TATW 3.2. Requires an additional 10.5 GB of HD space (requires 15.5 GB total when installed over TATW).
First (not after!) install the File Cleaner into "Sega/M2TW/Mods/" folder, then find the "FILE CLEANER" file in your Third_Age_3/data folder and run it (double-click it). If you cannot find it you installed it in the wrong place, try again. Run the File Cleaner first or there will be some bugs as a result.
After that install PCP 9.5 DS Part 1 and 2 (the order doesn't matter) into "Sega/M2TW/Mods/" folder (same place), install any updates next. Launch your game as you normally would.
~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Manual Install (and Steam);
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Install the File Cleaner to your desktop and copy/paste the data folder over your TATW data folder to run it, after running it install Part 1 and 2 to your desktop and copy/paste the data folder again. Launch your game as you normally would.

OPTIONAL Enb Series;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Install Graphics and Lighting Tweaks v1 to SEGA folder (NOT your TATW folder) and run the game or any mod as usual (works with everything). After the game menu has finished loading hold SHIFT and press F12 at any time to enable/disable the tweaks. This was designed for use in battles only, it will work on the strat map but strat map lighting is far simpler so its probably best to toggle it off (SHIFT+F12).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OPTIONAL Hotseat/Multiple Factions Campaigns;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All campaigns are Hotseat compatible. Paste the following code into your TATW.cfg file (over any pre-existing "[hotseat]" section) to fight all battles in Hotseat Campaigns. Without it you will have to auto resolve defensive battles. Do this before you start your campaign and make the TATW.cfg file Read Only. This is not save game compatible as far as I know. Do not disable console, many scripts use it.
Paste the following code into the pre-existing [hotseat] section or make one;
[hotseat
autoresolve_battles = 0
disable_c />disable papal_electi />save_prefs = 1
update_ai_camera = 1
validate_diplomacy = 1
turns = false
scroll = false
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OPTIONAL File Swapping;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First Age is set to default in this upload so this is not needed for that other than playing one of the custom campaigns as a Hotseat campaign. Add the .bat launchers/File Swappers to your mod folder (they may need to be told where they were put, I have no idea what your folder is named, Third_Age_PCP is what I have it named in the path) and LAUNCH THE GAME WITH ONE whenever you switch to and from the First Age which uses different files, otherwise you need two or more mod folders of TATW. Be sure to state that you are not playing the First Age if you give feedback on other Ages or you will just break all of them with misleading info.
*Try this to set them up if they do not work;
1)Rename your Third_Age_3 folder to Third_Age_PCP
2)Open TATW.cfg in notepad and replace Third_Age_3 entry in line 3 with Third_Age_PCP
*Then this if the above doesn't work;
If it can't find kingdoms.exe, very likely you don't have that file. Have a look inside the main directory "Medieval Total War II" (or wherever it is installed the main game). If I remember well, After one of the last patches, the file "medieval2.exe" should launch Kingdoms.If you have only the "medieval2.exe, replace "kingdoms.exe" in TATW.cfg with "medieval2.exe".
*Note; I did not write the above, this is what other people did to get it working.
Dude no joke this mod is AMAZING!!No joke, the factions and units are all so damn cool, no bugs so far.
I paid him to say that.
Haha, I see. I downloaded the google drive alt. and had the same results. I'm downloading the mega.nz alt. now. I'll edit this comment with whatever results I get. Very excited about this mod!
EDIT: mega.nz file works perfectly.
Just stumbled upon some tantra music that would fit real nice (lost in my 50k+ song list) and also a couple old ambient tracks I made years ago, so I will probably include new sound files with over an hour of new strat map music when I re-upload.
If you think any other tracks should be added just PM me a list and I will check them out. The more the better.
medieval 2: total war encountered an unspecifced error and will now exit
How do I solve this?
By posting more info, how could I possibly know what you were doing when it crashed?
Many others have it working so there is a decent chance you messed something up if you can't get it to start. Try the "Manual Install" method, be sure to use the file cleaner in your TATW folder first.
I've got that crash everytime I enter a battle, the field will show for a split second with what appear to be blacked out/missing textures then crash to that pop up, campaign works perfectly though.
I'll try the manual install then report back
It's the same with me
Could be a compatibility problem with your hardware. Try renaming the; mods\Third_Age_3\data\descr_geography_new.db to something else, or just delete it. That may fix the issue but the grass I added might be removed as well.
If your graphics drivers are out of date they need to be updated. This is an old game but it does use modern graphics.
Did not work unfortunately, my video card is a geforce 9400 gt version 340.52, game other mods are run on a good
Are you using vista/8+? Sounds like that could be the cause. If it had anything to do with my files everyone would experience it so it is some kind of conflict.
Did it work?
No but im going to try delete that file like the author suggested
Just deleted it and it didn't work, I'm going to see if I can update my driver, from the looks of things it looks like the units have the black/missing textures not the terrain
edit my driver is up to date, I might reinstall the mod but make sure I run as admin, could that possibly solve the issue. I'm not going to be able to try for a couple of days though
FIXED
delete descr_geography_new.db and descr_geography_new.text
I also installed as admin which should be recommended anyway but I doubt that's the fix. I couldn't edit my last reply hence the new one.
alreadyded I'd recommend posting a page for bug fixes until you can get a more stable version online.
Can't wait to fully try the mod as I played the campaign and it's already pretty great. Cheers!
That is odd that the text needs to be deleted too, unless you have your game setup to rebuild it.
The descr_geography_new has nothing to do with me, that is a common problem people have with M2TW, even the vanilla M2TW descr_geography_new file. Timestamp issue or something. There is no way for me to improve it since the file contents are not the actual problem (just simple code for simple squares, literally nothing to fix). If the file was the problem everyone would have the same issue, there is an unknown factor that is... well unknown:P. I have Win 7 Ult and have never experienced this.
If you unpacked your game be sure to delete the descr_geography_new files in your vanilla M2TW folder.
AND disable UAC if you haven't already to anyone having trouble installing.
I have Win 7, maybe its my hardware, I'm not sure what else it could be, important thing is that it is now fixed, great mod!
Can you please make a video about installing it, for it doesn't make sense on how to install it?
I don't spend my time on such things, I just release this for testing. If you can't figure out how to install it (copy and paste a data folder) then you are not the kind of person I want giving feedback anyway probably:P.
No offense, you will just have to wait for someone nice to make a video. Also, I never actually installed it so I wouldn't be the best to do this video since I have no personal experience with it or the problems people are having. I already have the files on my PC.
Sorry for asking
Don't be, it is a good question, and I am sure many here don't know English as well as me. You will just have to wait for someone else to answer it while I try and make the installer better/easier.
Wow, amazing work!! well Done.
When I play Isengrad during the Third Age, Saruman is part of an elfish people. :'D Did I something wrong or is the Third Age just no finished yet?
