After the Lingshan Islands incident, multiple areas dubbed "cold spots" by the US military have appeared all over the surface of the earth. The cause of these cold spots is unknown; there are no patterns to their appearance, and more importantly, there is no known way to remove them. As demonstrated by the first contact, sheer military force is not enough to destroy the spheres that form the protective outer shell for these locations, and the temperatures are low enough to flash freeze any standard infantry deployed inside them.

I really hope the palm trees are just placeholders... That REALLY wouldn't make sense if palm trees, or hell, even palmettos, were in an icy wasteland like this.
I'm pretty much following the art style of the original Crysis frozen environments with this, plus I'm not much of a 3D guy anyways unfortunately.
So I see what you're saying, but I can't really change it now. :p
if you understand not only the game but this mod is that areas were RECENTLY frozen from the aliens, which froze everything in the cold areas including the trees already there
