Conan: Hyborian Battlegrounds will put you in the sandalled feet of one of a number of the heroes of the Hyborian age. You can choose from among such skilled warriors as the Stygian Sorceror, Bossonian Archer, A Spearman of the Far south, A Zamoran Roguish Spy, A sword- or axe-wielding barbarian of the northlands.We are preparing for you a beautiful land, full of Lush Green valleys, Verdent forests, and sandy-brown deserts all waiting to run crimson with blood spilt by your hands. Fight realistic sword duels against countless opponents, vaporize them with the dark magic of Set, or stab them from the shadows with a poison-tipped dagger. The choice is yours. Fight for the Dark Glory of The Serpent God, for the mercy of Mitra, or for the Power of Ishtar.
Okay, enough babble. Time to tell you a bit about the game. As I've already mentioned, it will be a Class-based game. Optional first/third person view. Battles will be large, fought between two armies. You can choose any of a number of classes, and can slightly customize your character's load-out to your personal requirements. We will be implementing an entirely original hand-to-hand combat system, attempting to be the only accurate melee system available. Unfortunately, there is the chance that it will play poorly, so no promises can be made. We also hope to make available a variety of multiplayer scenarios, such as assassinate/protect the king, capture the relic, Survival in the Hall of Hell, and a purely cooperative thief scenario. But that is to come. For the time we are focusing on the massive multiplayer battles. There has also been a recent decision to implement mounted combat.
