Eastern Front is a free mod for Company of Heroes. Following the ethos of mimicking a Relic Entertainment expansion pack, Eastern Front has succeeded in adding two full new factions, the Soviet Red Army and the German Ostheer, packed with unique and exciting units to the existing armies - a feat never before achieved in the Company of Heroes world.
As we promised a few weeks ago, we'll start posting some screenshots about the upcoming patch 1.7, most of the changes are regarding balance, but there are some changes that can be demonstrated with a picture.
Vehicle Cover is the ability given by Relic to all vehicles so they can have cover bonus(a bit like infantry cover but not directional and only can be under cover or not, AFAIK). Some vehicles didn't have it before 2.602... some players say it can help you to win battles. But how do you use it? How do you know when you have cover?
Company of Heroes Online used to have a solution for that, and in Eastern Front Team team will gladly implement something similar to our mod. From the next patch whenever your vehicles are in cover, you will see this gray shield above the vehicle and you'll know your vehicle has cover bonus on that area.
This will surely help everyone ;).
I'm sure that wooden fence and tree would prevent that huge tank from taking damage
@WaffleAndy
I think so, unlike the infantry cover, which has negative(red), light(yellow) or heavy(green), vehicles only have one type of cover AFAIK... regardless how ridiculous it might be seen :D.
If you were the commander, any cover is a good cover. Like Dogs, no matter whether is a black dog, a white dog or a brown dog. A dog that guard its master is a good dog. :P
Stug III/IV use bushes as cover, and that has no significant barrier at all, yet Stug III/IV still picking off tanks better than in the open.
It's not that the cover will protect the tank, I believe it has to do with causing the enemy to have a harder time aiming at them. Hitting a target that is 50% visible is much harder than one out in the open.
You also got to remember they didn't have all the fancy aiming assist they have these days, it was all man power I would love to see the Tank ace's of those days be in control of a tank these days and vice versa I bet the WW2 tank Ace's would win. Just on skills alone.
In old 1.71 CoH, all vehicles provided heavy(green) or light(yellow) cover to infantry, I don't know why Relic did change that.
Yeah, i really wish vehicle cover is still available cause vehicle like tanks is not exactly a small object and providing cover was what tanks are intended for the infantry, maybe because vehicle heavy/oriented faction/player had the advantage for their infantry while infantry oriented player find themselves to the limit of static cover.
love it !
I use modstudio and check the data of IS3, then I found a...say, a mistake about IS-3
The HP of IS-3 is 1250(In comparison, tiger I is 1064 and kingtiger is 2000) and the damage of D25(IS-3's cannon) is 165(in comparison, tiger I is 137.5 and kingtiger is 165)
what I want to say is, I think IS-3's armor should be at least as good as kingtiger, but its main cannon damage shouldn't be that much as actually D25 is howitzer, not at-gun
so, it would be more fair if IS-3's HP is 2000(equar to kingtiger) and cannon damage is between 137.5 and 165(say, 145?150?) which is better that tiger I but worse than tiger II
